The most useless tools you have bought ??

Many of us have vast collections of tools and gadgets to help us do tasks on bikes, cars the house , plumbing etc etc what are the most useless items you have or have tried ?? This might get funny or controversial??

I will start with : SLIDE HAMMERS I have a very nice sealey kit and also have had them on many offshore jobs as part of system tools ,, always useless never seen one do its job even weilded by other personel or ships engineers ha ha ...
 
A very long time ago, when I was a new apprentice, I soon learned the phrase " A bad workman always blames his tools."
 
The worst tool I ever had was one of those plastic Ducati clutch holding tools, the type that bolt on to the housing.

Whilst I've got a proper clutch tool, it's really a two-handed operation and so I liked the idea of the bolt-on jobbie as you get to have your hands free to do the tightening.

I fitted it and started tightening the nut until 'crack' it snapped like a carrot and way before any meaningful torque was applied.

What a load of old ****e that was...

i’ve got a cnc alloy one of those, works great ;-)
 
bicycle specific tools:

i bought a budget (£25) brake bleed kit, a pair of syringes and adaptors and some bits and bobs. worked ok once with dot fluid but despite cleaning meticulously with brake cleaner before storage, second use it was useless. the plunger rubbers had swelled and everything was a PITA, involving lockwiring adaptors in place and cursing a lot. third time I didn’t even try to start working.

bought an sram branded ‘pro’ kit (£100)
absolutely faultless so far and included about £30 worth of other tools and parts i’d had to buy separately. of course the real proof will be next time out.

i should have known better than to try the cheap option buying tools!
 
My ABS plastic one with 2 bolts works really well , my big pro ally one is a pain to hold ?

I use cheap medical syringes and bits of hose lying around and they last ages
