Weight Watchers Milestone

"The discs are retained by four long steel 3/8" through bolts (about 4 1/2") which I changed to M10 Ti bolts and clawed back loads on bolts of that size, but can't find the figures right now, it was big numbers, if you want to talk orange"

I just had to go out and weigh those steel bolts. With nuts and washes they come in at 325g.
Given that I usually save nearly 50% by swapping Ti size for size, I think I can claim an honest 150g on just those bolts. So that's the best part of the 200g I shaved off from the 400g theoretical weight gain.

You don't so much shave off grams on an old clunker, as Lop off the kilos!!

Well have to say I'm a bit jealous of saving potential. Today I'm replacing a M5 adjuster screw, cut the nut in half and will save a couple of gms.

Hmm, might have to try weighing my S2R 800 which supposedly weighs 173kg dry?

Have removed pillion pegs (1kg?) and swapped exhaust system (and cat) for a stainless downpipe and carbon termi cans (5kg saving?) and swapped the lead acid battery for a lithium one (save 3kg?). So could be around the 165kg mark

Put it on some scales, then you have a real datum to work from. Standardise your weigh technique, i.e ready to go but no fuel. Then keep a log of the subsequent saving as you swap & lop, to keep an estimated total.
Note:- bike weight reduction can apparently become an obsessive/addictive behaviour.
