As part of my steering stem work; whilst I’ve got my forks out I’m going to get the tubes anodised black and fit the andreani evo ii inners. I’ve read that the limiting factor will then be the lower fork FCV’s…I see that k-tech do a direct drop in replacement for them.

Has anybody any experience with the k-tech FCV’s

😂…my apologies…Flow Control Valves to replace the ones at the bottom of the forks…for compression I think.

Well I don't have any experience of K-tech FCVs, but I can see how the standard valves could be an issue if you start mixing things around, because standard valves invariably offer limited adjustment (so you and I can't mess things up too much).
I use Maxton cartridges and have been pleased with the product and service, maybe not the price.

I have Ktech valving in both my Ducatis forks; M900 and 916 though neither has it's original forks fitted.

My Monster actually has 916 Showa forks with Brembo radial brake mounts, I got Ktech to fit the mounts along with Ti-Nitride sliders, their valving and sprung to suit my weight so, a few mods at the same time but they were much improved. Much of that is likely due to reducing the spring weights though as a 916 is a heavier bike and are massively over-sprung anyway, IIRC I came down from 10n to 9n spring weight.

Similarly my 916 has 1198 Ohlins forks which I had Ktech replace the springs (from 10.5n to 9.5n) and fit their valving. These are excellent forks, feeling both really supple and planted at the same time. They do in fact feel better than those on the Monster but I guess the difference is that the Ohlins were a better product to start with plus, they have larger valving than the Showa due to being bigger internally - 25mm vs 20mm valving IIRC.

I do all my own bike servicing & repairs with the exception of suspension that I take to Ktech as it's, IMO not worth messing with forks. You need special tools and knowledge for a job you only do every few years and it saves me making a mess of it plus, it's not too expensive - the Ohlins on my 916 developed a seal leak over last winter. I took them to Ktech who turned them round in a day for around £200, I reckon the tools to dismantle (safely) would likely have cost that much for a job I might do every 10 years.

In summary, I would highly recommend Ktech valving and Ktech themselves for all suspension servicing, it also helps that they are not far from me so I can take/collect in person. (y)

i have Ktech valves in my 996 forks on my S4 ,, excellent items with 8nm springs,,, and adrieani evo bits in my monster 750 fork with 7nm springs ,, still a little firm but good

Hi guys just an update on this. In the end I went with k-tech internals + springs + flow control valves for compression. All supplied by brookes suspension, they have a deal on atm. The forks have been anodised black and re-built by a local suspension specialist.

I’ve just dropped them back into the bike and I’ll start full front end rebuild soon. But so far it’s coming together well and the suspension guy thinks it’ll be at least as good as the Andreani kit if not better. It roughly came out about the same price as the Andreani kit if you exclude the Anodising cost.

I very much like the black forks rather than the gold ones.

More suspension stuff.

It looks like my rear shock has failed…oil leaking on the floor. Can anybody recommend a specialist for ohlins? It’s a DU737 type

Thanks again.

My 916 Ohlins had an oil leak, due to a chip in the chrome on the pushrod.

Ktech fixed it, no problems since.

A local suspension guy up here (can’t do ohlins without specialist tools) has recommended KAIS Suspension in Manchester. I’ll give them a shout…anybody had any experience with them?

James, have you spoken to Willy at Dynoecosse in Hillington or the Ducati specialist in Kirkintilloch....they must know somebody in the Central Belt 🤔

All done, KAIS in Manchester were top notch. I’ve refitted it and just need to put the wheel back on…theeeeeen dismantle the sprocket side to fit new Cush drives. Then it will be ready for its desmo service. 🫣

How slowly ? 😜😜 Are you fit again ?
Hopefully sometime may for going back on the road.

the doctors have abandoned me, my GP just doesn’t seem to want involved, and my next set of tests and surgery appointments haven’t appeared in the post…very frustrating. Good news tho, I’ve decided I’ll fix it myself (as much as I can) and I’ve changed my diet, lost weight and now exercise including cycling to work. It seems to be helping and every week seems to be a small improvement. Long story short I can definitely ride a bike 😉.

Great news James….look forward to another “brisk” meeting…..BTW, Al burst his Achilles chasing bad boys who were chucking eggs at passing cars….out of action since February…😠

Ooft Achilles is a sore one…he was too fast anyway 👀. Yeah can definitely get some runs pencilled in. I’ve always got the 899 if the monster isn’t available.
