Hi Everyone, I just wanted to say hello and thank you for allowing me to rejoin the group.
I was a member back in 2004, around that time I traded my fireblade in for a 2002 S4 monster that I adored. I foolishly swapped it for a CBR600, the reason being we’d just moved house and I had lots to spend on its refurbishment.
As soon as I rode the CBR out of the dealers I realised I’d made a massive mistake.
Here I am 22 years later, and I’ve bought the nearest thing to the original monster I owned way back then.
The other bike I regretted selling was a Honda Hornet 900, and four years ago I was reunited with exact bike, it had gone through about 7 extra owners, but only had an extra 5000 miles in the clock.

Welcome back Chris.A lot of people from those earlier days on here have disappeared but there are still some great folks and lots of good information.

I remember it being a great place for info, buying used parts, and a great place to chat with like minded people.
I’m looking forward to reconnecting with people and making new friends alike.
 
That's a very nice monster.
Although I'm not a big fan of the watercooled models, I have always liked the S4 because of its double-sided swingarm.

Pre 2001 an M900 needs a 170 rear tyre. A 180 spoils the handling.
With the change to the "ST2" frame and rod, rather than hoop suspension link, a 180 is correct.
 
170 tyre has the advantage that you can fit the narrower lighter wheel, for more nimble handling.
 
My M900 has a wheel like the one shown on the S4 above, actually it was from an SS 1000DS IIRC which should be the same?

Fits fine and is a 5.5" so will work with a 180 tyre and I did originally fit a 180 to it but, the chain is already close to the edge of the tyre due to the swingarm width and it was banging against it which didn't seem a very good idea so I now run with a 170, handling is fine, don't recall noticing much difference from the 180 to 170 though I suppose there probably is something.

AFAIK all M900 had a 5.5" rear wheel and were fitted with a 170 tyre, whereas M600/750 had a 4.5" and a 160 tyre?

Welcome back Chris, my last post was from 6 years ago when i put a deposit on a nice blue S4r but never completed and before that 2008, however i too have bought another monster, this will be my 6th one after an original 900, then a 600, an S4r, another 600, then an S4rs and now a 937SP.

Hi Sidrat,
That’s an interesting user name, did you have a pet rat named Sid by any chance?
Just asking because I had a Parrot named Sid, hence my username STP or Sid the parrot ….
Nice selection of bikes btw
 
Mine's "Bike In The Zimbabwean....,... sorry can't remember the last word.

It goes back a long way, when we were racing. The rules said we needed a name, so Sidrat was Tardis backwards, in fact Sidrat was the the name of the first Tardis in Dr Who.
