The was a recent thread on this subject , but i could not find it :

,,,My S4 has recently refurbed silver powder coated frame and new red paintwork but the ''new viton oring '' on the fuel pump sender unit into the tank has failed and over last 10 months fuel has leaked out leaving hard yellow stains on the frame and some paintwork ,,

So what will safely remove it ?????????

so far I tried fresh fuel , carb cleaner ,,,Farcela 3 rubbing compound , vinegar ,, soap and water , and nothing is working ??????

also the O ring was a genuine Ducati green viton one supplied by moto rapido and the fuel in the tank was 95 benzine ,, non gasohol ??? so should have been fine .. oring is out and its not broken ??

tried 2500 wet and dry and its not budging the fuel stains ????????? and also soaking the stains in carb cleaner ,, its like they are baked on

Ok some progress after using a combination of wet and dry , paint cleaner and clay rubbing compound and some light touch in paint all is looking nice again ,,, new green o ring will be well coated with well seal when it goes in ?? and bike will not be left with fuel tank on when in storage

Glad to hear you've made some progress Jerry

Have also had a search of the threads for something like petrol stain removal but can't find anything recent either

I would try ethanol or maybe acetone. I had my carbs ultrasoniced at the lab where I used to work and the guy used toluene but I doubt thats available to buy over the counter even in Thailand.

At least 6 European backpackers killed in Laos this summer …..seemingly adding ethanol to drinks is commonplace in SE Asia 😱
