I have owned a plethora of bikes in my life, some sensible, some not so much - my old KTM Duke II being the most questionable of my choices, top end of 90 but holy hell, it got there quickly!!!

I turned 40 this year and thought "tits to it, I have earned a mid-life crisis". So I decided to buy another bike, my wife is incredibly supportive and as I already have 3 projects in the garage, she was more than happy for me to purchase another, had to get on with that before she changed her mind....so it was a toss up between a Hypermotard 950 and an MT-10SP...and I'm afraid the Jap Crap won the argument.

I found one which was up for sale from Superbike Factory, without realising how much mental anguish I would go through with those bunch of assclowns, but that's a story for another day. Going through the MOT history, it took 4 years to do it's first 1000 miles, then was sold, then it looks like someone who actually wanted to ride it put 5500 miles on it from 2021-2025. On top of a few modifications including cat delete, O2 delete, AIS delete and remap to 159 at the wheel (understandable, these things run so lean now!) But the thing I don't understand is the shocking tail light they put on it!

Maybe I'm just being old, I like modding bikes but I just don't get it. They even had a switch put on it to flick between normal use, and the weird disco spearmint rhinos **** mode. Link to YouTube because the video I took is too large to share on here, but can anyone answer me, why on earth would you do this? Is this a track day thing (track days aren't my forte) or is it just a personal choice type of mod...

Anyway, it has failed a previous MOT for it's lighting, where bikes should have at least 180mm distance between the lighting surfaces of mandatory direction indicators at the rear. SBF had the decency to give it a however many point inspection and MOT before they released it to me, which included some extra parts which needed to be purchased, they also serviced it for me for the ripe old sum of £150...

However, the inspection was carried out by Stevie Wonder, the service was just an oil and filter change, and the parts were Temu's finest indicators attached to the bike with glue and copious amounts of willpower. Plus the battery was knackered even though it always "started on the button" - lesson learned, never use those chimps at SBF again. (Plus they failed to deliver it when they said they would and didn't tell me).

The tail light was something special, to the point where it had to be programmed to flash in that pattern by flicking a rocker switch. Anyway, I've chinned off all the bad works from SBF, replaced the tail light with a genuine one, new tail tidy and added some decent indicators which are nice and legal. Thankfully all is good now and I didn't purchase a lemon.

The funky tail light is up for grabs by anyone who wants it btw - you can take it off my hands for nothing +P&P...

Lessons learned, don't use SBF and don't buy a motorcycle online after 10 beers :ROFLMAO:

Rant over. Stay shiny side up people 🏍️

I ride with a couple of these…..or did…..both chopped them in because of the voracious appetite for fuel……seemingly a well known issue. Other than that , comfortable and fast.

They're affectionately known at the "Empty-10" for that very reason :ROFLMAO: 17 litre tank - could do with just a few more, but I knew what I was letting myself in for with it. The fuel gauge is a bit daft though, the first "quarter" represents half a tank  Midrange torque is amazing and you're right with comfort and speed, it's the most stupidest thing I've ever bought.

I know the Chief buyer for SBF his older brother is one of my best biking pals,.
He is a total shark in business but vey knowlegable biker , his job is to get stock for the least money and he is good at it ,,and he openly admits SBF salesmen are total BS and they dont care about the customers ..

SBF have a very bad reputation but they are a dominant player ....mind you they dont get repeat customers so they need an endless stream of muppets and fresh meat to sell to, but eventually they will burn all their bridges and then ???

That does not surprise me at all. I would like to add that I was one of those (drunken) muppets :ROFLMAO:

I didn't really speak to any of the salesmen other than a few messages here and there after I bought the bike, the answers they gave were very woolly, I'm guessing because they had their sale, time to move on to the next chimp. After discovering the shocking work which was carried out on it, I left them a review on Trustpilot, and I didn't hold back. Everything I had experienced from them was poor, I was honest but not rude and gave them a mighty 1 star, but then the review was removed - no wonder they're rated 4.8/5.

Oh well, I won't use them again. Massive thanks to Flitwick Motorcycles - my local Yammy dealer who I sent the bike to for it's 6k service and also chatted through my bike's history.

make sure you keep the loom well sealed , yamahas are well known for leaky looms and failed ECUs , Carmo told me that 37% of all failed motorcycle ECUs they get are from yamahas which is massive, they say BMW and KTM are next worse with 14% and 11%

Not necessarily a horror story from my perspective, although I've had better experiences from different dealers. It's like SBF are living up to their name, they are literally a factory - stuff comes in, sort it out for the minimum cost, send it back out. Lesson learnt.

It goes with the conditions Jerry, if you're going to be an all weather rider, then take the necessary precautions. If you're only a fair weather rider, then don't go stupid when washing your bike - common sense really.

We called into the SBF at Donington Park a while ago just to have a wander round after a track day. There were hundreds of bikes, lots of them looked to be poorly cared for, absolutely nobody asked us if we needed any help,so much for sales people, and I couldn't help thinking that there was noway I would even consider buying a bike from them.
