My Monster has just had its first MOT at 8k miles, got an advisory on the rear upper and lower shock links. Anyone else had similar ?
It's still under warranty, in for an annual next month, be interesting to a see the dealers/Ducatis views on it.

Bike MOT's are the same as for cars.
For example my 4X4 was given two advisery notes. One for the tyres and one for the shock dampers. The tyres were the originals that came with the car and were going to be changed anyway. The dampers again original which I had checked at the next service and guess what ... Nothing wrong with them. The MOT at that time was undertaken by a national chain who advertise as "Tyre and suspension sepecialists".
A class example was an Elise I had for a year which given a fail for ... you'll love this one ... rusted sills errr it's chassis is basicly a bonded and rivetted alloy pan, it might corrode or debond but rust hmmmmm I think not. Trading standards did take an interest in that but it was hard work!!
So sometimes you are being fed utter BS

However I have heard of some fails in the rose joints, even on some of the ohlins shocks fitted to Ducati's. The main body seems to be made of brass with an inner shell of something more organic which plain wears out in as ittle as 11 - 15K. You get play in the joint, main problem being the initial wear isn't obvious and is just a little play. But once the inners bearing liners starts to wear it allows the joint to start hammering up and down and breaks the lining. Might be a lubrication fail, QC issue or just a bad batch of rose joints. It doesn't seem to be a real issue in older monsters though, so indicates different spec rose joints??
Make it Ducati's problem, a 3 year life span for a component like this isn't what any reasonable person would expect.

I’ve previously had an advisory for M1000ie top shock linkage but it’s a much more complex arrangement with a rocker and tie-rod, efectively resulting in 5 pivot points rather that the 2 on your 937. It might just be the tester being a bit paranoid and covering themselves, either way your dealer should sort it.

Bike serviced today at a main dealership, they acknowledged the shock absorber upper mounts were worn, however they class them as 'consumables' and thus not covered by the warranty, I did dig out the warranty booklet and yes indeed they are correct...:(Screenshot 2025-06-30 at 21.02.55.webp

They are like that new . Ducati say that when the wheels are on the ground it's fine , they have a point . the play is in the bush at either end
due to the bushes being over size which is poor really . I cured this with a Nitron shock . To be fair in 23,000 miles its the only fault but it
isn't wear and tear , very odd . Oh and the annoyance of having to thump the seat to get the release catch to work !!!

Had a thought ! as the problem is not wear all you need to do is remove the shock knock the bushes out measure the outside size
measure the bolt and if you look on e bay some sellers list different size tubing go for one the matches the original on the outside
and find one made of thicker metal to make up the difference and cut the tube to match the length of the originals . I did this with
a steering damper kit to make it fit.

The 950 model uses the airbox panigale front frame and doesn't have a rear shock linkage it bolts direct to the swinging arm
