I’ve been on the look out for a 1200R for a while…finally found one…pick it up on Saturday.

Couple questions though for the forum.

Quick shifter; has anybody found one that works and doesn’t damage the gear box?

It needs new chain and sprockets, anybody got any recommendations?

And an odd one; the exhaust has been cerakote’d black…it’s not aged well. Does anybody know how to remove it?

Also I now have 4 bikes, something needs to give so if anybody is interested in 17’ street triple RS or a 14’ 899 Panigale give me a shout.

There are some trick bits on this 1200R I’ll be taking off (not my taste) wondering if anybody with a 1200R would willing to swap for standard parts? The first of which is the rizoma levers, I’d much prefer factory ones.

I’ll post some photos of it soon.

Thanks again.

Well done James…look forward to seeing it….I think I posted on here recently that a mate’s mate just picked up a mint “r”….hoping to see it next week when I get out of the QE….good luck with the sales. PS how much do you want for the Evo, asking for a friend 😜

Thanks Crawford. I mean the sensible option would be to sell one of my other Ducati’s. But as fate would have it; looks like the streety will be sold tomorrow.

I’ll get photos of the 1200R asap. It’ll be interesting to do before and after photos…give me a winter in the garage making it my own.

Picked up the 1200R yesterday. I’m happy with it for the price but it needs some work.

Mostly ditch the £30 levers (not rizoma as I had thought) and fit oem.

Also the foot pegs are cheap garbage so I’ll replace them to oem as well.

And it looks like it’s been washed with a Brillo pad so I’ll get hold of a machine polisher, cut it back and re-finish it. Other than that and a really deep clean it’s all good, lots of service records etc etc.

The quick and simple answer is all QS will work and not damage the g/box if used as intended which is at wide open throttle, which ever one you get wire it so that you can switch it off on the street and only ever use it on track days

I can honestly say the during my brief 1200R ownership, the thought 'what this needs is a quickshifter' never occured to me.

it was awesome. the twin plug heads made it super smooth compared to pre-17 1200/1200s (i only tried the regular 17+ 1200 not the s). i found that on the stock supercorsas you needed to 'attack' corners a bit to stop the steering feeling a slightly vague. i never rode it in the wet though, which i suspect may have been quite sketchy on supercorsas. i kept it in sport mode but used the touring dash layout on the road. throttle response was absolutely perfect, you could even give it full throttle from tickover and the ecu just fed what it could handle without the bogging down you'd get with most bikes. roll on in 4th gear from 40mph is just epic!
it was pulling ~140mph in 4th before braking for the foggy esses at donington.
if i was looking for another bike that'd be the one, sadly i managed to wreck mine and myself in the process.

mine was the correct colour though ;-)

The exhaust is coated (I thought cerakote, but it’s not…some cheap coating) so I’m going to take that off. Hopefully the nice silver look will break it up.
