Am after oil cooler from an early M900 monster along with the oil feed pipes.
Will also consider other coolers that mount above front cylinder and are handed to make cooler centred in line with wheelbase.
TIA, Richard

You can fit Multistrada oil lines which both go under the engine past the starter motor.
This helps no end when changing belts as they don't get in the way of the horiz' cover and it streamlines the look of the timing side.
You will need later type nipples for the engine as the fittings are different, not sure if they go straight on the cooler?
You could probably use a Multi cooler, but not sure what they look like? they will have the correct alignment to the CL though.

Gary,
Thanks for the heads up on oil cooler lines...sounds like it could well be the route I go (sic).
The Multistrada oil coolers I've seen on FB (other sites are available) aren't handed so will need some bracketry made up for it to locate in the right space. Not an impossible task, but not quite as neat as the handed solutions.
Will see what's available and go from there I guess ...

P.S. As the MS lines will be a fair bit longer than the Monster/SS ones, I guess a benefit might a slight gain in cooling ability.

Ah! I didn't realise that Multi' coolers were not handed, they must have revised the bracketry to make the coolers universal. (cheaper.)
Best stick with a Monster cooler, or an SS one for overhead mount.

Not sure if you need any extra cooling from the longer lines as the air cooled twins are all pretty much over cooled for the UK anyway.

Just looked at mine and I can't remember if I had to change the fittings at the cooler end? I think they went straight on.

I made some stainless steel stone guards for the Monster oil coolers as mine was looking very scruffy. They do the trick of covering the battered matrix and protect from further dings.

I still have loads of them! http://www.ukmonster.co.uk/monster/showthread.php?t=59143&highlight=oil+cooler+stone+guard

Just had a thought.... it might be possible to mount the MS oil cooler using the lugs on the 900ss frame at the front where the airbox used to be. If it is possible then it doesn't need to be handed ... which might be a great result.

'You can fit Multistrada oil lines which both go under the engine past the starter motor.'

If talking about the original Multistrada series, the lines fit a monster but are far too long unless you plan on mounting the oil cooler where the headlamp sits. Don't ask me how I know this :banghead:

I used lines from a Hypermotard, this was on a Monster Mk 1.5, ie oil cooler mounted off the inlet valve cover on the horizontal cylinder.

Thanks for that Dacs. You're right, it was Hypermotard lines we used.
I always get the ugly ones mixed up.

I'm going to be running hypermotard lines on my m900 and they fit a treat. Well I would be if some arse didn't rip me off on ebay but they do fit well even damaged ones...

Which oil cooler are you using on your M900 ? Is it the standard one or a different one ?
I'd like to use oil lines routed under as opposed to up and over so the Hypermotard lines are currently favoured. It's just deciding which cooler to use. Again my current preferred one is the standard M900 one as it's a simple install, but would consider others if bracketry to fit isn't too fiddly.

I'm going to use the stock m900 cooler in it's original position off the front head. Mines just been painted in satin black pj1 and will have the ss guard I bought on this very site.

Thanks for the guidance. Looks like we may both end up with similar set ups.

Hippy daze....

Mines a resto mod build as its a load of odd bits that came in a million boxes. Everything I do at the moment ends in another problem lol but onwards and upwards!

I know exactly what you mean. Mine's a real mix of parts. I was going to call it Mongrel but it turns that in Italian mongrel is bastido ..
so it's currently unnamed.

Parts list so far is ...

Frame, wheels and engine crankcases/heads and rear bodywork- 900ss
Wiring loom, idiot lights, headlight/bikini fairing, front mudguard and oil cooler - Monster (various versions)
Cylinders/pistons and cams - ST2
Swinging arm - Metmachex
Oil cooler lines - Hypermotard 796
Speedo - Daytona Velona 80
Ignition - Ignitech TCIP4 with APS
Coils and HT leads - ExactStart
Custom end pipes for exhaust

Rickman used Metisse for their very nice Nickel plated, framed specials. It means Mongrel, but sounds a bit French to me?

Or maybe Chimera, which I think means crossbreed and is again probably French? I think TVR has already used that one?

Then of course there is the traditional English Bitsa, from bits of this and bits of that.

The owners club for Norton/AJS and Matchless hybrids call themselves Hycam, which can be interpreted in different ways, much like Hyperformance.
What about something along those lines? Like Hycati?

I'd settle for Il Mostro from the bible, the whale that swallowed Jonah.

A Gazza is a Magpie in Italy, which is interesting as I like hoarding shiny things too! :D

FrankenCati is another option, but Il Mostro does appeal as many would comment that I can't spell Monstro !!

I just but "hybrid" into google translate and got the Italian "Ibrida".

Ibrida Mostro has a ring to it or just Ibrida on it's own. In italics of course.. :D
