Just thought I'd post an update on "The Heap". I have just collected it from LouigiMoto, I wanted to fit the ergal cam wheels, bit of a service, new belts while they were at it, set up the throttle bodies, and finally have Chris map the ecu fuel map. Turns out I had been running very rich. The results were quite a surprise, generally upped the torque across the board, and max power up 6bhp, you can definitely feel the difference. Max torque 118 Nm @ 5800rpm, max power 112 Bhp @ 7600 rpm. So the world is a wonderful place, well in my garage it is anyway. IMG_20260320_190550.webp

Is that an S4 ??? my S4 was originally 101.5hp on dyno from factory then in 2008 i put it on a diet , termis etc , Ohlins, Ktech in 996 forks and I fitted megacycle cams and a PC3 with custom maps ETC and it Dynoed at 117hp and 111Nm torque but since than in 2018 I took the PC3 OUT and put in a DP ECU set up for my spec S4 mods ,,, now 114hp on Dyno and similar 110nm Torque and a tider installation ...Also handles much better than a standard one ,, the original forks are rubbish

Hi Jerry, no it's a 94 bike fitted with what I call a S2r+ lump (taken out to 98mm, Vee two cams, pistal pistons, easy flow air filter, 45mm spaghetti headers, own design cans). Weight just over 159kgs no petrol.

Wow! That's a very impressive torque curve for a clunker, bearing in mind that a Hayabusa only makes about 130Nm (but 200bhp!)
Mine makes 190Nm from nought revs (Or should I say Zero?)
Really pleased to see that someone is still building and tuning proper Monsters and much more importantly, riding them.

Well done Mike.

Well Gary if it's loads of torque from zero that you're after..... have you considered steam power?

I have pondered it actually, but I don't know anything like enough about steam engines to understand how to go about it properly.
I have also had an idea involving steam power for a very long time that I would really like to try out, but it would be a huge risk and very expensive.
I've thought about getting Rick Wakeman (He's a local steam enthusiast) involved and possibly Guy martin and channel 4 as the program would make them something back even if the idea didn't work. I think it's too late to get the ball rolling now!

I think there has been a rather impressive steam dragster bike, but I only have a vague recollection of that.
At the end of the day it's not as silent as folk make out and will always involve some sort of combustion. I doubt it will ever make a practical everyday transport in the 21st century, but I wouldn't give up hope.

My everyday 190Nm electric bike suits me down to the ground in all weathers and is probably the ultimate in practicality as far as my needs go these days.

There is always rockets of course for a quick getaway?
My mate who has a couple of Hayabusas, one being super charged, has experimented with rockets to assist with acceleration on the drag strip.
It never did get beyond the experimentation stage which was quite hilarious at times, involving a local school boy and a bicycle!!
One of the snags with a rocket is that you can't switch them off!!!

(The schoolboy survived.)

Garry, if you are out “enjoying” the performance of you’re Zero what kind of range can you reliably get ? And how long does a recharge take ?

very impressive results mate ,, the diet also helps ..

This might amuse some of you, it did me. In an idle moment I Googled to get an estimated figure for the potential 0-60, I fed in all the bikes details (Inc bhp Nm kgs) plus rider weight. One line in the A.I. response stood out for me, which went something like "EVEN with a 95kg rider acceleration will still be aggressive". This has to be as close as A.I comes to saying even with a fat bast..d like you your bike will still go. Well it tickled me anyway.
