Smile Monster owner-to-be!

Hi all,

So tomorrow I am off to view my (hopefully) monster-to-be.

It's a '94 M900 with a few subtle additions.

Cam belt hasn't been changed in a while so i will be couriering the bike back and undertaking that job myself (with the help of the online guides, and probably you guys when i get stuck )

Before i set off, is there anything I should be looking for in particular?

Hi,
The online guides are realy good 'especially the ones on youtube', so doing the belts is quite easy, its also worth checking the valve clearances while you are doing it, 'also some good tips on youtube'

I picked up a '96 M900 a couple of weeks ago, and there were a few things I didn't notice till I got it home!
The front wheel was out of true, so its worth 'spining' the wheels if you can to check any runnout.
The headrace bearing had a slight 'notch' at the centre point, not easy to check for unless you ride it.
Also, if you get it, its worth changing the oil and checking the oil strainer gauze, mine clearly hadn't been cleaned for years!

Mine might have been a bit of a dog..the previous owner had neglected it and I probably payed over the odds, but I love it, with new tires now fitted, its one of the best handling bikes I've ever had I should have got one years ago!

Thanks for the advice guys - being a '94 M900, will this be the 4 valve or simpler 2 valve engine? (can you tell im new to ducs yet?)
And if it is the 4 valve as I think it is, how bad are the belts to change? I am reasonably handy with a spanner but no professional mechanic!
