s2r or 695?

I'm thinking that my 750 may get replaced when it hits 90K, I'd be looking for an S2R

Funk 695 has same callipers as 900ie/s2r1000, s2r 800 has smaller callipers.

don't think thats right lucas, I'm pretty sure ducati put the smaller 2 pistons callipers on later 620's 695 and s2r 800

You know what you are correct there. I keep on forgetting I have a 620ie with 695 engine.


I did however just notice that s2r 800 is 179kg weight while 695 is 168kg so 695 has better power to weight ratio. My good that single side adds 11kg!! Fat ass comes to mind.


I would personally still go for 695 due to looks alone and I would upgrade the brakes ASAP.

For me, the problems with the S2R would be the single sider (I don't like the engineering or the maintenance implications) and the plastic tank.
Dunno if the 695 tank is plastic or not.
I run a carby M750, cos I don't like too many electronics.....and it has a steel tank and double sided swinger.
I got it shortly after a return to bikes about 10yrs ago, love it, and will keep it forever.
I would say that, broadly speaking there's probably not a lot of difference between the three, on the road, and I can therefore confirm that you are very likely to love it too, whichever you choose.

ps. note that 750s can be had for under £2k nowadays, and have pretty much stopped depreciating.

There is also a 800 injected so same engine as s2r 800 but 11kg less weight as proper swing arm

I much prefer the looks of the S2R, that's why I bought one. I find the power of the 800 to be plenty fast enough for my abilities. The plastic tank does not seem to have swollen at all, still latches down fine.

It is my first bike with a single sided swingarm and I love the way it looks, also like how easy it is to adjust the chain.

sssa are great, while you are struggling with your wheel alignment and fiddling with spacers etc, my wheel is on and I'm gone
