An old friend Kris Knibbs built this from scratch ,,, its a new 1200cc black lightening spec Vincent engine ,,, with Buell 5 speedgearbox and primary ,, Kris made the frame , forks , swingarm , tank seat , bars , exhaust system etc etc ,, he is a real craftsman

Blimey.
That is a thing of awesome beauty.

Is that a double caliper front disc?
And a twin leading shoe rear ? .. cable disconnected.
There's plenty for the eye to dally on, all over.
Just the ally rear hugger/chainguard held my gaze for quite a while. ..... Sensible, too. No chain lube splash on the tyre.
Twin cans on the other side ?
And that could easily be a monster oil cooler.

Any more pics ?

The RTV Vincent engine with Bosch starter motor, hence no kickstarter visible.
Clearly a fabricator of immense skill working in many materials to create his vision.
I can't help pondering the oxymoron of his design philosophy though.
I suppose I understand the choice of drum rear brake and girder forks to capture the essence of the Vincent's era. but the use of a small disc with two heavy looking two pot callipers is confusing.... The headlamp is mounted on an unsprung part of the fork and will follow every bump in the road... The truncated Lucas lamp as used on the Trident and others in the 70's, not of the Vincent's era?

I can't help staring at in in admiration though...The guy's craftsmanship is highly enviable.

Yeah, but to a monster owner, all other design philosophies are a bit askew, to be fair.

Agreed.... But ponder this one, sent to me by emzedder last night.

I don't like the fork links. Short at the top and long at the bottom. It will make the forks rock as they travel??

Kris has a X75 hurricane , a monster 900, a commando , HDs his wife rides old triumphs ,, he builds many customs ,, one was a home made V twin using home made adapted HD cases and crank and a pair of Bristol centaurus barrels and heads was over 3 litre ,, he may still have it ,,he also built Guzzi 850 with the engine mounted sideways like a HD ,, he restores old BSA V twins ,, but will tackle anything ,, he used to live in Brighton ,, a real craftsman , engineer welder , fabricator , turner etc etc he is a little old fashioned ,, he like it that way ..he has a good life living his and other peoples dreams

Blimey. The skill and vision involved in making something like that....

Lucky I don't have an inferiority complex! Oh, wait... Now I do. Thanks a lot, Kris Knibbs.

gazza

I sure its an RTV engine but its does not have a Bosch starter the entire 3 chain primary and 5 speed gearbox and starter from a Buell Engine is mated to the Vincent motor Kris cut away and engineered the Buell crankcase leaving the rest as unit to mate with so the Vincent engine is now a UNIT engine with 5 speed transmission

im awaiting pic s of the ither side and what carbs its got

kris is not one for taking photos ,, The first photo below is the engine under construction .. Kris told me last night its a 1953 Rapide bored and stroked to 1290 you can see the welding marks where the engine has been mated to the buell primary and gearbox ,, later it was all dressed up and polished ,, Kris is a CODED welder ,, 2nd photo shows the primary side ,, also the carbs are 41mm dellortos
he also made the pipes and megaphone exhausts
