Question Monster 600 indicator problem

On the way to work today and my left rear indicator suddenly stopped working. When I indicated left the front one flashed at twice the speed and the rear did nothing.

Then it fixed itself! Very odd. Anyone know what I should check first? Is it loose connections or the flasher relay?

Cheers!

I would go for an easy win first. I would look at the bulb first. Take it out and polish the connection point on your jumper until its nice and shiny and make sure the tang inside the indicator unit is also nice and clean, and bend it out a bit so it gets good connection to the bulb when fitted. If that doesn't work then try a new bulb. If it isnt the bulb then at least you'll have a spare and you'll have to look deeper for the fault.

As above, bad bulb or connection, if one bulb fails/stops flashing then the other speeds up. Check for loose connection especially to the earth.

I had similar on my old Guzzi where both rears would occasionally stop flashing, turns out the earth connection through the frame was dodgy (indicators have just one wire running to them, the positive with earth through the frame) so I ran a separate wire from battery negative to the indicator mounts for 100% reliability.

Polished and fiddled and seems to work now. Only cost me a fiver for a new jumper.
