Saturday's Ride Out.

hi Folks,
the dust has settled, and we can now let you know Saturday's route for the ride out.

We leave Sharnbrook at 10.30am, heading for Rutland Water, which is our first coffee stop of the day.
The route will be a mix of A and B roads, taking in the local scenery.
We head for Corby cross country, then on to Uppingham and Rutland Water, where we stop for a cuppa and cake! Please bring some change, as the car park is privately operated by Anglia Water and there is a ticketed parking scheme.
We then head on to Melton Mowbray , via Oakham .
We head from Melton cross country to Market Harborough for our second stop of the day.
From Harborough the route winds south towards Northampton, turning towards Sywell and onto Earls Barton, here we join the A45 heading back towards Sharnbrook.

I expect the route to take about 5hrs including stops.

Here's to a great day out!

Please read the ride out guidelines.

Rules & guidelines for the weekend

The Monster Weekender endeavours to be a particularly relaxed affair - however, there are a few points that our hosts and the organisers would like you to consider, in an effort to ensure the weekend runs smoothly.

• We are guests of The Sharnbrook Hotel, please respect your surroundings, and certainly no unnecessary engine noise in the hotel grounds.

• Please ensure you have a full tank of fuel prior to embarking on the National Rideout on the Sunday, and also if you are joining the rideout on Saturday. There is a fuel station heading north up the A6 approx 1/2 mile from the hotel.

• It is particularly important during group rideouts, that you ride in a controlled manner with due courtesy to those around you.

• All bikes going on the rideouts must be in a roadworthy condition. You are deemed to be in control of your own machine at all times, and solely responsible for your own actions.

•*The UKMOC will take no responsibility for any accidents/injuries howsoever caused, and ask that all members make sure that they have adequate insurance cover for themselves and their Monsters.
There will be a briefing before each ride out. Please pay attention to these, particularly if you are not used to mass ride outs.

General ride rules:

The ride will be lead and tailmarked by known riders (hopefully in hi-viz). Do not pass the leader.

We will be using the drop off system, which will be explained at the ride briefing

Please avoid passing other riders in the group, except where appropriate .

Ride offset from the rider in front of you

Keep sight of the rider behind you at all times. Stop at junctions for them if you can't see them. The theory is that if everyone does this, we shouldn't lose anyone!

Albie, UKsurfer is bringing a couple of day-glo vests, but if you have room by all means stick a couple in.
There will probably be only one rider wearing a vest, for clarity and that will be the tail marker.. Handy to see him for the drop off system and useful if he's distinctive.
(He's very distinctive as it happens.. )

Thanks Grumpy and thanks again.
It will be quite a run.
Well done for so eloquently articulating the clubs ride out guide too..

All those new to UKMOC runs should not worry about the drop off system. It's a piece of cake and works really well. It means you get to see ( and hear) the entire column of bikes go past you a few times too.
