LED Indicators

I want to replace the large, unsightly indicators on my M821 for something a bit more svelte and modern. I've been looking at the likes of Oxford, Rizoma and the Ducati accessory ones. I assume many people have replaced theirs? Any recommendations? Do I need spacers if I go for the non-Ducati ones? Resistors or LED relay? Easy job? Mine is a 2015 Monster where the indicators sprout from the side of the headlight...

If you have done it - show me what you got

Best of the best, Kellermann, not cheap but make Rizoma look like christmas cracker toys

https://www.kellermann-online.com/en/lights/

Can be had in UK so no mucking about with silly import duty, but need to shop around

Please make sure you are not just changing them for the sake of changing them, or fashion.

Many a good looking bike has been ruined with the addition of silly little bits of tat.

Nasher.

I still have the Kellerman micro 1000 on the monster, what I like about those is they dont look like aftermarket bits.

Agree they look super good and not at all like the usual aftermarket tat, what swings it for me is they are super reliable IC controlled whereas Rizoma and others are SMD which is cheaper to manufacture, noting like as bright and quite delicate if you do bash them

As Nasher pointed out nothing ruins a bike quicker than fitting aftermarket tat and I've seen many such fashion victims, that look like they've been crashed into an M&P warehouse then botched back together! His recent 1000DS in one such example.

Those do look nice. Not heard of them before, but I'll check them out - Thanks!

Welcome aboard. This may be your first mod to the Monster but I can guarantee that it won't be your last!

If you like the design of the genuine DP indicators

but not the price (£80 per pair!), consider the Koso version, which appears to be an exact copy.

Louis Moto currently have them on offer at just £17.35 each

Be aware that almost all aftermarket indicators will come with bullet connectors so, to wire them in, you'll either need to cut off the OE and bullet connectors and then solder the OE ones to the indicators or, alternatively, use an adaptor cable with a Ducati plug already attached e.g.

Check first whether you need to add resistors to get the correct flash rate. If you do, then get ones with the correct Ducati connectors and you won't then need the adaptor cables e.g.

I don't know whether the 821 needs resistors, the DP kit doesn't mention them. It may be that your ECU will accommodate the LED flashers automatically. Perhaps ask any 821/1200 owners on here who have done the swap whether they needed resistors.

Top Tip:
As you'll see all over this board and all sorts of places on the www - LED bulbs only work connected one way and can be a frustrating PITA getting them to work after you fit them. They sometimes seem like they don't obey the laws of physics !!

Duly noted

I sense a difficult backstory in your reply, but I won't open old wounds...
