Non-OEM speedo sensor cable for 696
Once again my speedo sensor has packed up - I had it replaced at 35,000 miles and it has now gone again at 66,000 ish miles. I've done around 500 miles with no speedo and nothing added to the trip counter.
Last time it cost around £110 for an official Ducati one, which seems a bit salty. Andy has found various non-Ducati speedo sensor plus cable combinations online (aimed at e.g. Chinese quad bikes, Honda bikes in Australia) for a lot less, but obviously none of them claim to fit a 696. I'm sure (just as for oil filters) that a part exists out there of the correct dimensions, aimed at a less prestige brand vehicle, and therefore not subject to "Ducati tax". Has anyone out there tried a non-Ducati speedo sensor & cable on a 696 (with or without success)? It might be worth a punt buying a cheapy one online for Andy to try and fit, before ordering the official part. |
