Thanks. It's VHT Gold engine enamel with clear lacquer of the same type.

'fraid I can't tell you which Gold, as there were two shades available when I bought it.
The first I got seemed a bit too Orangey on a sprayed sample, so I ordered the lighter looking one. When I sprayed a sample of that it was indistinguishable from the first, so I don't really know if they are just selling one colour under two names or if there was a mix up with my orders?
That said it does seem to have faded a little since I did it.
I also panicked a bit when I thought that one side was a different shade to the other. In fact it turned out that I have different coloured fluorescent tubes on each side of my workshop, so don't rely on the photo for an accurate colour. (Which was taken with a flash anyway!)

Thanks. The colour I think I like, might not look like that, could have two names, and fades! Well at least I can be confident its durable! LOL.

Jez, try VHT sp132. I'm sure that's the one... Fairly sure? The lacquer changes the colour a little bit too.

Thought so Dave. Even so I reckon it's best to remove the covers in your case. There could still be a screw hiding in the chain goo on the alternator cover, so clean and double check before you apply the puller.
You will need to be really careful with the fluid and the new paint when you put the clutch cover back and bleed the slave.
Personally I would cut a hole in some plastic sheet and cover the whole casing with just the bleed nipple poking through, so no splashes or dribbles can get on the new paint.

Have a look at the exploded parts diagram for your bike on Stein Dinse website, you'll be able to see the case screws and where they all are. On the large case engines there are 2 fairly well hidden ones.

It doesn't have one for my bike.... Only the later 2000 version

SS750 will be the same engine if they have that one.

The alternator side comes off so easily it's not worth masking it up in place.

You might notice that I took all the cover screws out to spray. I managed to leave it like that and not break the seal. I replaced with new polished screws after spraying (with VHT).
You could just spray the screws and replace them one by one afterwards I suppose?
Lovely job Mr Gazza. Whats the finish on the clutch cover? Is it stripped & polished or chromed?

Thanks.
It's a chrome cover, from an MHR apparently. Darren sold it to me.

I have a ventilated alloy one on now. It was Gold anodized, but I polished the outside and left the Gold in the edges of the slots.
