M1000 ie DS
For sale is my M1000 which was the subject of this thread on here as well as many smaller threads:
https://www.ukmonster.co.uk/monster/...hlight=Project I’m not sure of it’s original model designation or spec, but it’s an 04 reg M1000 that has the original classic Air Cooled Monster styling, including a proper double sided swingarm, and the lovely Fuel injected Duel Spark 1000 engine. The spec is currently: Monster M1000 MOT due 23rd May 2025 Both Black Keys Red Key Code Card Remus Ducati Performance mid-level Exhausts. Power Commander. K&N Air Filter Hyperpro rear spring on Showa remote res Rear shock. Multistrada Reg-Rec. Hybrid 848/1098/SS Forks with Multistrada 1200 Radial Brake Calipers Sr4 clip-ons ST top Yoke Standard Master cylinders with Multistrada reservoirs. Aluminium Swingarm 5 Spoke wheels Carbon Front Mydguard Carbon Side panels Carbon heal guards Monster 695 Front headlight Fairing. Clock faces swapped for White from SS Model Clocks Open clutch cover. Gold Anodised aftermarket Clutch Pressure plate. Clear Indicator lenses. Clear Rear Light lens with LED internals Upgraded battery and Starter cables. Tail-chopped. I’m really flexible on what spec it gets passed on in. It will come with the standard tank which has now shrunk back to size and has better paint. I can fit that before collection if required. It needs the belts changing because it’s been 2 years since I changed them, but I’ll do that before collection unless you want to bargain the price with that. I’m happy to refit the standard Forks, Brakes, Yoke and handlebars if required. I’m also happy to refit the original 3 spoke wheels if required but will have the current tyres swapped over onto them. The tyres are hardly worn. I will of course remove the COSTA can from the rear shock remote reservoir which was on there to upset somebody who preaches that anything other than an Ohlins on a Ducati will kill you. The bike is a little cosmetically challenged, particularly the engine. It’s at my home in Clanfield, Hants and I’m looking for £3,800.00 but will listen to any sensible offers etc. I’m flexible on when it can come and be viewed. PM me for my number if you want to ask any questions or discuss it.

Thanks Jerry
I was hoping I'd have had some sort of interest in it, but not a sniff. But, I've just noticed after nearly a week that I'd done a massive typo in the ad. The price should have read £3,800, not £8,800, which would be a ridiculous price for it. I really wouldn't mind somebody telling me I was asking far too much, in this case it would have been a massive help. My apologies everyone, for being a senile old git. I've edited the above to reflect what it should have said all along.

The best of the Mk2 Monsters. Someone should get a bargain at that price, given the spec after your mods/upgrades.

Si, I did think you were being optomistic at nearly 9k mate but you know how you invested in it. I'd prob ask about the same for my S4 Foggy but that really is a force of nature. Like no other bike ive ridden before. Nelly at Cornerspeed said it destroyed a track 916 on midrange and matched on power so. They made only 300 and its survivor bike of maybe half a dozen so maybe 8 to 10 in the UK on that optomistically Absolutely brutal bike btw even that 999 S4R Testastretta Monster doesnt come close, too refined.

Thanks Darren, yes it's a totally different proposition to your Foggy.
I'm willing to talk about the price as well.

No interest in the bike at all.
I've not done the belts yet in case somebody wanted to use that as a bargaining point, and as mentioned I'm really flexible about what spec it can be supplied in. I could even weld back on the rear part of the frame if required. I am open to sensible offers.

No interest hard to believe isn't it. We have a regular "bike night" here in Poole through the summer(Tuesdays), nobody even glances at my bike, but cover a bike in lurid vinyl wrap and stick an impossibly wide rear wheel in and everyones drooling (while I was more impressed by the Lambretta inscribed "rusty but trusty") Don't get me wrong cos I love the varied tastes in the biking world, but maybe a well sorted. M1000ds is a minority thing nowerdays? More one for the connoisseur.

I know it's no real consolation but if I'd known my bike rebuild was going to take this long and cost as much as it has, then I'd have waited and bought your bike ... and probably at the asking price. The only things I'd have changed would have been the open clutch cover and clear indicator lenses.

Thanks guys.
I happened to be in Poole one evening for the bike night, I thought it had coincided with a speedway night, but that can't be true if it's on a Tuesday. Anyway, it felt like you needed to be either in this years Leathers, or weekend warrior Camo trousers. Neatly ironed of course! I realise it's not for you Richard, which is a shame, but I do have Amber lenses and a closed clutch cover I could fit if they are putting others off. I'm not riding at all at the moment due to a stupid incident involving a shovel and cement mixer leaving me with a bruised hand that I can't bear weight on, so all my bikes are just sitting there whilst I carry on with my Garden projects.

Oh no! Not the old putting the shovel in too far trick?
I've done it myself but managed to let go in time, but it's getting round the back to switch it off without the shovel flying out. When I was an apprentice (A very long time ago!) they had a Field Marshal with a three man starting handle, among other methods of starting. It was a 6 litre single cylinder two stroke diesel, and one day the starting handle stuck in when it fired. Three very frightened men ran for cover as fast as they could, but the workshop manager saw this and ran to pull it out, or whatever he thought he was going to do. Thankfully the handle flew out before he got to it and was later found on the very high boatyard roof about 40 ft away.

Glws mate. I would suggest ebay but they do rob you over 10% seller fees; so need to consider that, also there is a nice red one for sale but its it's in Gazza country!

Everyone admires the Classic monsters and SS models but no one wants to buy them ..... We have to either keep them till we die or give them away for peanuts .
Funny though even HD are having problems ,, some of their 90s and early 2000 bigtwins are not getting the money , and the new water cooled sportster models have bombed in the market whilst old air cooled sportsers are now going up in value as they are still in demand .. The New Sportster is often mistaken for a Honda Rebel LOL

Regrettably a little more stupid than that.
Like I've done hundreds of times before, jabbing the spade in the mixer whilst it's tipped up over the Barrow to get the bits of mortar clinging to the inside whilst avoiding the blades inside. Hire mixers are never the cleanest inside and sometimes some gets stuck. My own stupid fault I know, and compounded by me as usual pushing myself physically late into the evening until I'm about to drop when anyone else my age would have given up and been sat with a cuppa.
