Maps... ?

Can anyone help me?

I am trying to find a way to post up and also email maps, with road routes plotted on them.

I have found a way to plot routes on google maps, but I can't seem to post or email them, or even get a link to work successfully.
I would also like to write notes on the map as I go... If that is possible?

I'm looking for a format that everyone can use to edit the routes once posted.

Please bear in mind that I don't have a sat nav, nor very much patience with a PC... !

Thanks all... You know what this is for...

https://drive.google.com/open?id=1X9...xc&usp=sharing

log in to google services,
from the menu (three horizontal lines, top left) choose 'my places'
select the maps tab
edit maps and save your changes
choose the sharing settings you want
copy and post link

You should be able to plot a route on Google maps and share it directly from there using one of the links. I'll look and find out which one it is now.

Okay so load up Google Maps as you normally would, plot your route (although I think Google Maps only allows a max of 10 via points?)

Once you're happy with it, click Details on the left, in blue writing near the journey time, then it'll show you three icons. An arrow pointing into a phone (send to phone), 3 dots in a < shape and a printer. Click the > dots and copy/paste the link into your email, on here, wherever!

Eg. https://www.google.co.uk/maps/dir/No...d51.066523!3e0

Just testing.

www.plotaroute.com/route/341209

So far so good with this one.
I can click on the link and also edit the route.... Can anyone else edit this map, or does the site ask you to register?

Hi Gazza. I tried to edit and add to the route. It did tell me to sign in before I could save.

I created an account. When I sign in I can edit but can only save to a copy in my account name as "This route is owned by someone else". There are options to share and make maps public etc but not played with this yet..

HerE is my test edit..

Hope https://www.plotaroute.com/route/341228 that helps.
Steve

Thanks for trying it out Steve.
This could serve our purpose, as I could see your edits and it's clearly very simple to register and use in just a few clicks. Yet find out how to post a picture of the map?

.... And thanks for that Dirty...

Still playing. It seems to only allow 150 mile plots at moment in the mode I am using ( plot via waypoints). Will play with the drag plot function later once I put my dress and high heels on

Press "print this route" and it creates a screen version that could be captured as a screen shot...

Still playing...just found the "plot 10 waypoints" feature. ..

I might be getting the hang of this. I just fine tuned the last map into pretty much the route I had in mind for section one of the Coast to Coast.. Not quite sure about the route across Bury St Edmunds.

This one shows road works and "incidents", which might be handy on the day.
What would be really handy is to show speed limits, as some good looking roads on a map are often littered with really low speed limits, for example the North Norfolk Coast road.
To show speed cameras would be handy too.

There is a route around BSE, which takes us on to the Haverhill rd.
In Gt Barton take Mill Rd ( B1106) to Fordham All Saints, the carry on up Tutt Hill, go under the A14 taking the exist for Wesley, through Wesley on to Horringer and join the A143 to Haverhill.
