My 1997 M900

Hello all.

Starting to have a play with the M900 I picked up from Blah Blah last week.

Had it MOT'd after tidying up some of the wiring so everything worked, and am making some small changes to mods that have been done in the past.

No disrespect to Blah Blah at all as he didn't do the ones I'm tidying up, but as I have my own workshop and machining facilities and enjoy doing it then it makes sense for me to play.
I'll put the work up in separate threads, but am enjoying riding it more than anything at the moment.

Just a couple of shots below from a short ride out today.

Looking very nice. I had one the very same as my first Monster nearly 11 yrs ago ( sept 17th 2003) and still love them.

Glad you're enjoying it.

I see you've changed the indicators, if you don't want the ones you took off I'll have 'em back off you if you're thinking of selling them... I just need a bike to put 'em on !

Hello mate, it's going well thanks.
Sorry, I took them off as a friend made me an offer I couldn't refuse. They will really suit his bike which is covered in Billet alloy. It's not a Ducati, but I'm sure the indicators won't mind. I feel a bit bad that you've noticed to be honest.

Sorry, I hung up my cape years ago.

The Helmet is of course Craft's copy of the original Simpson Bandit. I had a Simpson years ago and loved it. But It wasn't until I brought the Craft a few years back that I realised just how heavy and uncomfortable the Simpson was.

I have to agree there is something about the early bikes....but then I am a little biased- 1997 was a good year for Monsters.

Especially those in the 'correct colour'!

Confession time:
This M900 is turning me into a Hooligan.

You have to consider my Bike history.
Mainly 2-stroke trails bikes until I brought a 1981 Z1000 28 years ago, which I’ve just sold.
In the early to mid years that I had the Zed I had a few other bikes as well, GSXR1100s, various FZRs, GPzs, ZX10, KLE650.
But for the last 10 years all I had was the Zed, that was highly modified, but which I didn’t ride very often.
Despite some of the bikes listed I’ve never been a ‘quick’ rider.

The Monster is the first bike that’s really encouraged me to throw it about a bit, although I’d still consider myself a slow rider compared to most.
I think the handling just really suits me and the way I ride.

Of course none of this is helped by the fantastic noise the Remus exhausts make.

More likely, I’m just getting old and my view of going a bit quicker has changed.

I know the feeling!
Past bikes have been pocket rockets which go fast but some how you don't get the same buzz as you do with a 'slower' Monster!

Had a nice ride out this morning.

Ended up at Eastney down the South East end of Portsmouth Island having a Coffee from the van by the RNLI station whilst I watched the boats go in and out of the Channel to Langstone harbour.

Sat thinking how much less fuel the Monster uses compared to my boat, how easier it is to get out and use it, and how £ for £ it's probably far more sensible and more fun.

Took a couple of nice pics.

I ride my Monster down to my mates moorings and we sail off with just wind power..Win win..

Your Bikes looking good though Nasher...Second shot is a really nice picture.
