Longer sidestand .. from Cagiva Mito ?
I came across this ad on ebay ..
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Side-Stand...QAAOSwA29Y5Oy4 The guy seems to be saying that its an easy swap to give a longer stand on his 916 Of course you don't know how much of a bodge/misfit he is prepared to accept so it may not be the perfect swap, but it looks interesting. I'm thinking it would be very likely to fit in the same way to a monster, giving a longer stand (which many folk need after raising the rear). Looking at my M750, the crank in the stand may present clearance/mismatch problems with the left side exhaust, which is why I've ruled it out for my bike. Might still be of interest to anyone with a one-sided exhaust though .... Dirty ? I'm just posting it in case anyone wants to give it a go ... its not guaranteed to be successful. But at a fiver, what's to lose ? |

I have heard of Mito stands being used on 916 before, also 1098/848 stands as they fit without any modification and are longer.
916 are renowned for leaning a long way on the stand especially if you then raise the rear suspension (as many do). The 916 stand is not very good as it's not only short and flimsy but also got a very pointy end that will sink into warm tarmac. I fitted a 'Cyclecat' stand on mine which is, IIRC 25mm longer but also more sturdy and with a bigger foot. I think you could probably use one on a Monster as long as it clears the exhaust?

Thanks J. Certainly food for thought and at £7.50 total possibly worth a punt.
I'll add it to the box of 2 or 3, or perhaps 4, I'm not certain, stands that I plan to work with and extend or in some way bodge to fit |
