S4 Owner....

After many years of wanting a modern Ducati.....I have finally treated myself to 2001 S4.
It is a bit of a 'winter hack' at the moment; but if we fall in love she will get my full attention!

I owned a Duke when I was a kid (I think it was an 860GTS).
It was a lovely old bike to ride apart from the awful electrics.

I have owned lots of bikes over the past 30 odd years and hopefully will be pleased with my recent purchase?

Welcome MR T. I had a nice s4 for over 5 years I think. Had a 97 900 before and moved from s4 to a M1100s for a new bike. Loved it though and am thinking of moving back to a new 1200 maybe next year. Hope you enjoy the banter and the help. I single sided my s4 over a winter project. I enjoyed that one.

Get a decent battery fitted (I've recently installed a motobatt) and if it's not got loud pipes get them on

Hello and welcome aboard.
I also had a hankering for a ducati in the early days of the v-twins, and still have the Haynes manual for an 860GT which I bought at the time.
This was the beginning of an itch which didn't get scratched for many years though, until I bought my 2000 M750.
I'm glad I waited to be honest as, for me, the 2-valve monsters are the modern incarnation of those early bevel twins, with all the bugs sorted out and some basic design improvements to boot, and the 4-valvers take it to another level beyond.
I'm sure you will be pleased with your new monster.

Termignoni's already fitted.... Sounds nice

I am thinking of getting an Odyssey battery (I have them on my other bikes) as the current Rob North item doesn't allow too many chances of a cold start before giving up the ghost.

Motobatt are I think a fair bit cheaper than Odyssey and the same type of AGM, good reports from people on here, check on Amazon as they were the cheapest (about £45) when I looked, which if I remember is more than half of what I paid for an Odyssey
