wire wheels!

thinking of fitting wire [spokes], wheels to my 900, like the ones on the classic models [Paul smart] they re like hens smelly stuff! to find, or are more expensive than the BIKE to buy new! anyone got some rusty ones would like a swap! going to phone DUCATI up on MONDAY to price some, wish me luck.

I doubt you'll find a set of available SC wheels, have a quick glance at this thread and perhaps theres another option

I don't know how feasible it may be but getting a set of wheels made may be easier in the long run, I reckon sourcing suitable hubs may be the trickiest part but perhaps the wheel builder may be able to advise on that.

Doesn't the SC have to use sliding calipers in order to clear the spokes on the front wheel? I don't think the 4 pots will fit, which is one of the reasons I didn't change mine. Plus the standard SC wheels are steel and weigh a ton. Good luck finding some alloy ones from the Paul Smart.

the sc used a basic caliper but you can shave a small amount from the back of a goldline calliper to get it to fit if you want, personally I've never had an issue with the sc brakes, they work just fine.

GT and mono used steel wheels the bip and S had alloy rims.
I find the PS 'limited edition' ads sort of amusing as they actually seem to be the most common variant.

And in case they interest you there's an astonishingly cheap S on eBay at the moment, sort of raises suspicions but you never know unless you look into it I suppose.

As above the issue is with brakes. The shaved gold line is an option but the wheels were badly designed to start with. That said I have a couple of sets for SC I might be convinced to part with..

I could be wrong about this but I had thought that you had to supply your own hubs for the FABA wheels, that's what I remember them being when I first saw them a few years ago.

Also using original hubs will always mean you're compromising on your calipers..
