CRMC Brands Hatch

If you like watching old bikes go round in circles (I know a few here have expressed an interest in coming along) here's a little reminder that over the weekend of 5th and 6th July the Classic racing Motorcycle Club will be meeting at Brands Hatch for the fourth round of their championship.

As usual there will be around forty races along with four parades of some fantastic classic and post classic solos and sidecars over the weekend making for some really close racing all for £14 a day.

With an open paddock you can walk around and get a close up look at some fantastic old bikes (plenty of Ducati's to gawp at too) along with some newer ones and two stroke fans are in for a treat with grid-fulls of TZ's.

More details can be found here:

And if anyone fancies a closer view of the action I know there has been a call for Marshalls on the website so why not drop Ann an email and see if you can help:

Just finished in the garage getting the bike ready for the weekend- treated the little lady to a nice new gold chain too!!

Should be a good weekend if the rain holds off and everyone keeps their bikes shiny side up!

Wow, what a great days racing that was! Haven't been to a classic meet for a while and I'd forgotten what a nice relaxed atmosphere it has, not to mention an amazing selection of machinery. So many highlights it's hard to pick, but I did think the factory Suzuki RG500 in Sheene colours and the ex GP YZR500 we're amazing, along with a very rapid Vincent and a very ratty XJ600 holding it's own in the post classic races. And did I mention two strokes? Lots of them!!

I snapped you Flip in the Collecting Area, but failed to find you in the Paddock, although in fairness there were lots of things to distract me.... Your bike looked great and looked like you were having a ball!

It's all on again tomorrow, so if you're at a loose end and want to see some amazing bikes in action, don't miss it. I'm very tempted to go back for another look.

I'll post up some pics later.

No worries, glad you had a good day- I was up in the camp site opposite the shops and grandstand not in the lower paddock- Apparently MSV don't like you banging tent pegs into the tarmac!!

I had a good weekend all in all- wet practice Saturday morning but seeing I hadn't even ridden the bike since last August I was happy the way it went.
I had two dry races on the Saturday with improving times in the second.
Then a cracking race Sunday morning on a damp track going faster than in both the Saturday dry ones which I put down to getting used to bike again.
Then in the last race I had a bit of a splutter on the sighting lap which I initially put down to the bike getting a bit hot where we held in the collecting area but then when the flag dropped my bike mis-fired on the gas for the entire lap so I pulled in and called it a day.

It was definitely good to catch up with a few people- Rich of Louigi Moto fame being one with his gorgeous looking 250 Monza (?) that he put into 4th place in one of the races.

Now for some serious garage time before the Donington Classic Festival in August!!

Ah, that's why I couldn't find you!

Anyway, I finally got around to posting a link to a few pics from the day. There are a few more meetings left this season, including the big one at Donington, so if you like your bike racing with a classic twist, get yourself along to a meeting, you'll love it, I did!

Now, how can I turn my Benelli 250 2c into a parade bike....

And here's Flip, just before the off...
