Tornado Talks At Marham 7th Sept.
Our Richard has just sent me this.
On Saturday 7th September 2024 the RAF Marham Aviation Heritage Centre team will be hosting an event in tribute of the 50th Anniversary of the Panavia Tornado GR. The Tornado Squadrons based at RAF Marham played a significant role in the history of the base and deployed on many Operations around the world. It is therefore fitting that we remember this aircraft and honour it and the people who operated it and maintained it. The event will run in the Sandringham Centre next to the Heritage Centre and the doors will open from 1000hrs, where you can have a complimentary cup of tea or coffee prior to the presentations. There will then follow presentations and talks by both aircrew and groundcrew who actually operated and maintained this aircraft, featuring it’s Strike capability to Gulf War 1, through to Gulf War 2 and the other Operations up to the retirement of the aircraft. The presentations will be around 20 minutes followed by a Q&A session. Please arrive in time for the first presentation which will be at around 1100hrs. There will be a break for lunch for which you can utilise the Blue Bull cafe. The Centre will be hosting a raffle for which the main Tornado related prize an amazing engraving on glass has been donated by Petroglyph Decorative Engraving. There will also be a Heritage Centre memorabilia shop in the Sandringham Centre from where you can purchase some of our new Tornado related items. The event will be open from 1000hrs to 1400hrs after which you will be welcome to join the team at the Heritage Centre which will be open until 1600hrs, In the Centre there will be displays of Tornado equipment and artefacts including the RB 199 Engine, Ejection Seat, the Alarm Memorial and the WE 177 Freefall Bomb. So please come and join us on the day entry is free as is the tea and coffee, a donation would be welcome on the day and will help to fund future projects and events. I'll be there. Our Richard is doing at least one of the presentations.
