It's funny you should say that Alan...

Not entirely sure that we are strong enough in this area to run a Weekender...But y' never know. (Let me get one under my belt)

I had been growing thoughts of an "Alternative" Weekender as an extra date on the UKMOC calendar. Maybe at the other end of the Summer, say September? The principal of the idea would be to get a hotel out of the equation, but how to do that without resorting to camping eludes me so far...There are plenty of B&Bs and static caravan parks out this way which reduce their rate considerably after the school holidays....So..?? Maybe... Well it's not quite 2016 yet!!

I've been having similar thoughts over the last year or two, and am constantly on the lookout for a suitable venue.
Maybe we could join forces ?
I already have the option of a good live band lined up, as well as the use of a large marquee and PA and lighting rigs, if that kind of caper could be on the cards.
Though whether it should be an extra event or simply a different take on the normal weekender is still an open question.

That's brilliant, great if you could take on 2016 !

I would say stick to May for weekender as September quite a few people are off to Belgium for the MOB weekend. But of course all open to discussion.

PS - Can we keep this post for 2015, we can PM each other to talk about 2016.

Thanks

Okay Utopia.! Sperm meets Egg and an idea starts to snowball.

I will think about this a bit more over the coming months, my ideas are very embryonic at the moment...Really need to see what the weekender is all about before going mad.

I would prefer to offer something a bit different to the Weekender but not to compete with it or change it...Must be mindful not to clash with the Belgium rally as you say..

Ooops .. yes another thead required..!!

Saturday would be better for me, but in saying that Sunday is possible.
The idea of a group ride down sounds like fun.

I have been ruminating around my noggin the idea of using one of the holiday camps on the east coast for a club do as well!
Defo needs another thread....sounds like utopia, gases and myself should have a chat!

Hi All, would like to get the rooms booked up asap.

If not booked up before Christmas I will need to decide what to do as we did confirm to the Hotel we would look to take all the rooms !

No point in running if mostly Kenties booked as we can visit this area anytime !

Thanks to all those that have booked and paid deposits already

15 rooms booked

9 to go !

Hi Al,
I have been to the Weekender every year recently and wouldn't want you to think I haven't booked because I don't appreciate the venue or hard work you have put in. I think it looks like a great venue in what I know is a lovely part of the country with great roads as well. It unfortunately clashes with a plan I already had. There is a slim chance that I may pop by on my way back into the UK sometime Saturday.
I hope people book up soon to make it a total sell out to the UKMOC.
