Read posts not changing

I have noticed that once I've read a post they don't always change from bold to standard type face, some do , some don't, has anyone else had this problem?

If I use the backbutton on my browser the thread I was just in shows unread still. I think the forum relies on a cookie to know what you’ve read or when you last visited, so it may not update read threads accurately if you switch between eg. phone & pc. It could also be something to do with a client software update changing the way a browser handles cookies.

After a little digging it could be an incompatability between vbulletin and PHP, since PHP has undergone a major version change since the forum software was written.
Also there’s a ‘step’ in the way the clock works on the forum, since it takes a few minutes for threads, read or not, to register whether they’ve been updated since a user’s last visit.
Let me know what you experience and I’ll dig deeper.

Just come back to the site and some have changed but some haven't. I never use the back button to browse I always use the menu buttons to navigate. I almost always use my PC with windows 10, if it continues I will have a look on my phone to see if that makes a difference.

I've tried it on my phone and that seems to work as it should, after reading a post it is no longer highlighted in bold but on my PC some read posts are still highlighted in bold so I have to click on mark all forums as read to clear it. Looks like it might be a problem with my PC but I don't understand why its not on all posts.

Try a different browser on your computer, or if you are using chrome, then try incognito mode.

I cleared out all cookies and did a bit of computer maintenance and this has cured the problem, everything now works as it should.

cool,
not having dozens of members reporting the same issue *usually* means it’s the client rather than the server.
