I’m the dude…I think

Hi all,
Call out to all Scottish Ducati’; I’m taking up the mantle of the UKMOC area rep for Scotland…dunno how we accommodate the highlands & islands guys but we’ll figure it out.

Anyway we’re still in a covid lockdown situation so not going anywhere atm. However if anybody wants to meet up when we get out let me know…I can be available most Saturdays or Sundays for local stuff and can plan in longer stuff too.

I’d like to start with a longer run maybe say to Inveraray when we’re allowed. Let me know thoughts guys and a date can be selected; I’m happy to lead, plan routes, meet points etc.

Out with runs, I can help with some specialist tools I’ve got if anybody needs, basic mechanical knowledge and being able to point people in the right direction for trustworthy Ducati mechanics and such like.

Thanks all, hopefully we can get UKMOC Scotland off the ground.

Best of luck James, you have brilliant roads up there to enjoy. Is the green welly shop still a focal point for bikes?

Cheers guy’s.

Yeah the green wellie is still very popular with bikers up here. To the point the owners have put a bit of money into the bike parking and sectioned it off, concreted it and so on. In the summer you’ll be lucky to get in and have to park in the lay-by over the road.

Word of warning; The food isn’t great though and very expensive. So if anybody does go try the “real food cafe” just a minutes walk or if you’re on the A84 from Callander road there’s the “Broch Cafe” probably 30 minutes prior to arriving in tyndrum. Really really good food.

Good news Ron. Knockhill also a good mid-point for a meet (either at a track night or race weekend).

Looking forward to getting out and about sometime soon.

I've also got an excellent ex-Ducati mechanic over in the West Coast if anyone is looking for a recommendation.

Are you volunteering to be a meet up victim Alan S4?

Yeah KH is a good mid point. I’m up there fairly often, for tracking the R6…I’ll no be taking the evo around again…within two hours I’d snapped the rear brake toe peg and ground out the exhaust.

I'll be on a ride at some point.

Agree about the Green Welly... don't bother. The Real Food Cafe is great though.

Not stopped at The Broch, though I've cycled past it a fair amount of times, thinking how hungry I was and I should probably stop, but then remember the reason I'm cycling is to lose some beef, not eat more.

Some evening loops could be good in summer too - up over the Dukes is a nice ride for a summer evening. The deli / butchers in Aberfoyle is awesome for a bacon roll too if you're ever up that way.

***First run***

First run plan, question no1 does anybody know the restrictions anymore

Question no2 who fancies a meet? And anybody got ideas of comfortable distances and place to head for?

Any suggestions welcome.

14/15th run.

Hi, James, I can do either these dates ....prefer an earlier start, though! Could meet in Callander and do Loch Lubnaig / Loch Tay/ Sma’ Glen? Or south to Bigger/Moffat/ Thornhill....smash in’

Ok I’ll keep the dates open so we can pick best day weather wise.

I too like an early start, how early is early? 8am?

How early ?

Normally leaving home around 8:30...temp permitting. Means Callander around 10am for North or 9:15 Strathclyde Park ( Raith Interchange) for South...ish!
