I was also wondering a few weeks back, as wanting to get some touch up paint. After trawling through the owners manuals which gave some info (but not very clear) I contacted Ducati as well (via Ducati.com) and below is the info I was told (after a certain amount of back and forth...):
For my 1995 yellow M600 with silver frame: With reference to the M600 we inform you that the silver grey code is 291.601 Bike Model : Monster 600 - Yellow : 473.201 PPG For my 2006 S2R (originally grey with black frame/wheels - though of course I've swaped bodywork colours to yellow/black ) S2R: Glossy black, code 248.514 (PPG) Not sure if this black colour is also used on the bodywork of the black bikes (obviously not for the matt monster dark ones) and on the frames of other bikes with black frames/wheels etc... Hope that helps! Cheers David |

Unless you are aiming for concours, I would just provide a sample to whomever you get to do the painting, they will be able to match it pretty closely, parts of my bike were painted using this method and matched the existing perfectly. In your case that wouldn't matter since there is nothing to compare the frame with.

Ducati.com were helpful, but it took a few e-mails to get them to answer all my points, so if you pester them enough sure you'll get what you need from them.

Thanks for that ! Il ask them.
It's the black that's the pig as funny .. I've looked at 3 black monsters and each black was very different ! The darks have a very faint graphitish spec in them.. You think that black would be black!! Ohh noo .. Trust me! I can't supply a sample to work from ... I don't think i'd better go chipping at peoples bikes ... |

When I needed the seat cowl painted I phoned a ducati dealer in the UK gave him the year and model of my duc and he gave me a paint code which I took to my local spray shop who incidentily painted the grale and using the duc paint code matched the paint to the tank on the duc using a computernabob it was easy.

If your in leeds try Monies paint factors, 327,whitehall road.
It's an independant and will sell in small amounts. RS paints although having a good rep are quite dear. Places such as brown brothers or carlac will be able to use the PPG paint code to mix but may only supply half litre upwards. Hellcat, the clear can be any brand you choose. Matt, semi gloss and gloss clears are all available aswell as ceramic clear which has a very hard/ tough finish. |
