Disappointing response from K-tech but the Andreani option sounds good and they seem to get good reviews. Looking forward to hearing what you think of them once they're fitted.

If the upgrade improves your forks half as much as K-tech/Maxton improved my Evo's, then you'll be very happy!

new rear tyre and new 7.5 oil in forks did 60+ miles today vast difference. you can lean over without that ridge and the forks are better not so harsh but still not great.

paid the £500 deposit just waiting for the cartridge kit to arrive from Italy. then post forks of for 10 days or so.

Nice to have something to look forward to! I'd be interested to hear your thoughts on the cartridges once you've had a chance to try them.

Hey,
Forks back Wednesday and are now fitted they look brill. Only one question as the top triple clamp is curved how far do i push the fork tubes through? if they are flush on the inside there is about 14 mm sticking through, is this ok for STD fitting?

You need to measure the distance between the top of the lower yoke and the top of the fork as per this diagram:

The figure for Showa forks is 222mm. (Make sure you get the same level on each side.)

Looking forward to hearing how they perform.

Glad I could help BUT note... in the 1100 Evo manual, there are a number of discrepancies between the torque settings in the text and those in the table. With that in mind, I thought I'd better check the figures for the 796 and, lo and behold, there are similar errors there too.

In the instructions I posted earlier, it says the top yoke bolts should be 22Nm and the bottom yoke bolts 24Nm. But, looking at the table, the figures are the other way round:

I believe the values in the table are the correct ones, i.e. 24Nm for the top yoke and 22Nm for the bottom yoke (I think the numbers 24 & 25 in the diagram are the wrong way round).

Vince, I think you have highlighted the STEM pinch bolt(s) @24Nm.

From memory I'm sure all the yoke/leg pinch bolts on my 900 are 22... Not the same animal though I know.

I did wonder about that, Mr G, but there are no other screws listed in the torque table that could be the top yoke fasteners. So, either Ducati have completely omitted the entry for the top yoke, or they've included them in the 'steering head' entry with confusing text.

A quick cross-check with the instructions for adjusting the head bearings, shows the two screws (no. 4) as being tightened to 24Nm.

Of course, if you tightened both sets up to 23Nm instead, then they'd still be within the +/-5% tolerance so you'd be covered either way.

Gotta love Ducati!

Set the height to 222 including the fork tops (new ones are 2mm thicker than old.

Ok had a sneaky ride today in to Gloucester CC (20 miles each way) to get the much awaited hair cut. forks relay nice. Pre-load has 12 revolutions no clicks just thread, in one leg Compression is a 3mm Alan screw that has 4 full turns, again no clicks and in the other rebound 4 full turns. I am disappointed for £700 the adjusters have no clicks.

I have set all adjustments in the middle.

bike off the ground 131mm
bike standing no rider 118 mm
thats 13mm static sag

me sitting on with gear on 88mm
thats 43mm loaded sag

the zip tie i have put on is 45 mm from bottom of travel and I feel they are a tad hard. so backed off the pre load 3 full turns

I shall see monday.

Adjusting the preload probably won't make the forks feel any softer but will mess up your sag settings. to increase the fork travel and soften them a bit you need to back the compression damping off a bit at a time, but this will ultimately have the effect of making the handling less crisp and possibly make it bounce off line off bumps?

another spin today
set the pre load back to mid one turn off compression Zip tie 36mm from bottom, deff better but still seems to push outward on bumpy road. if I turn one more out with the compression that will be max out.
I will try monday

If they still feel too firm after your adjustments, you could consider the fork oil. The recommended viscosity is 7.5w (as you used earlier) but do you know what oil Brook Suspension used when fitting the cartridges? They may have used 10w.

Even if it is 7.5w, you could try 5w, which is what I've got in my Evo. I find it gives me the ride I prefer without sacrificing too much control.
