Indicator switch clean \ lube
Hi all, hope you and yours are safe and well.
My evo is garaged and on a battery optimiser, so no issues starting it up from time to time to let it run etc. however yesterday I decided to give it a bit more of a look over, including to check all the light bulbs and horn (I mean usually, why would you?!). Sure enough the indicator switch failed to activate the indicators when in the left turn position. Right turn was fine. After a few attempts they came on, so I guess the switch is just a bit 'dirty'. All subsequent attempts were fine too. My question is, what is the recommended way to clean\lube this? WD40? Contact cleaner? Cheers |

Contact cleaner. There's another recent thread regarding WD40 in switches (350TSS build), but I've never had any issues with using it on switches but apparently it can be an issue. It's more of a lubricant than an electrical cleaner, so if the problem is mechanical switch then wd40 in the mechanism or if electrical contact then something like Brightspark.

Electrical cleaner - plenty of it - let dry
Electrical lubricant - plenty of it (protects the parts after) It's a two stage process and works well, even for bikes living outdoors |

I had the same as evostu and indicators so took the switches apart. Cleaned with electrical cleaner but still furry so took some fine wet and dry to them and cleaned up then sprayed on more cleaner followed by lube and hey presto all good
