M900 vs 900SS Airbox?
Hey Guys,
Does anybody know if there are differences between two airboxes. In pictures they look the same but there may be nuances my eyes are not picking up. I am of course comparing both carby motors so both 96' models? Thanks in advance guys. Regards, Leon.I |

They look remarkably similar in pictures but they do have different part numbers, unable to tell you what the subtle differences might be
96 SS Part No 1-000-677-974 96 M900 Part No 1-000-672-182

The M900 one is the SS one with the side mounting lugs cut off the side of the battery tray.
Other than that they are the same, and if you look at a M900 one you can see where the mounts have been cut off. The M900 then uses bolts through the bottom of the battery tray to mount to the frame instead. I had both side by side on my bench @ 3yrs ago and discovered the above. I have one of each that I could be persuaded to part with if you need one. Nasher.

Apologies for thread hijack but perhaps someone could shed some light on my airbox oddity . ( 1995 mk1 M900 ) The front right brass bush ( of 4 ) which mounts the airbox is a blank ( no hole ) presumably because there is no corresponding lug on the frame for it to be bolted to. The lug hasn't fallen off - it just isn't there ! It doesn't seem to affect the integrity of the whole fitting but i'm curious to know why it is like this. Is it possible Ducati just forget to weld one on ?
Any ideas ?
