M900 Choke position

It is likely I will be fitting clip ons to my M900, so the through the headstock type choke wont work. I could make a bracket I suppose, but would prefer to fit a lever type somewhere. The photo shows a possible position but what is the recognised way of dealing with this . Im sure I read that they werent always through the headstock.
Any ideas most welcome

You could put in on the handlebars as per my M900 but you would need the parts...

Thanks.
Ive done some more research and found this type. Part No 65540031A. And I now understand how it would fit on the bars. Is yours like this?

Thanks. I think I can close this now that I understand what the handlebar mounted version looks like and how it fits.
Available from Snells at just over £30 with discount.
Cheers.

The 888 and SS use that. Its secured by 2 countersunk screws to the side of the clutch reservoir frame. Probs m3 . It looks tricky trying to screw the unit then clipping the side on but you will work it out.

Thanks for that Albie, I had assumed it was clamped to the bar. You prompted me to look and I now see the M3 tapped holes.

It is on the 2000-up ie Monsters, where it's used to bias the throttle for fast idle when cold (not a choke). On those, it's just clamped to the LHS bar inboard of the switch.

Sounds like you got options though

My 1997 Carbie M900 had the choke fitted on the left hand handlebar.

The Ducati exploded diagrams show the 94 Carbie bikes with the centrally mounted one. But the diagram for the 1998 Carbie bikes shows it on the Left hand handlebar.

Ive got a 95 bike (manufactured late 94). It has the centrally mounted, but when I rang Snells and asked them to reverse check what models used the handlebar type Part No 65540031A they reeled of a whole load of bikes amongst which was M900 93-99 ( I think, but certainly mine).
So I guess that indicates maybe not what they had originally, but what is available now and fits.
Whatever, it looks like the handlebar type 65540031A will work on a set of clip ons.
