Rear hugger.
Has anybody have a rear hugger for a S2/4r they would be willing to sell?

Have you considered this?
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/234219477324 New and carbon so not cheap, but cheaper than the (also carbon) Ducati version (if you can even find one) and it also doesn’t leave a stupid gap so your shock gets proper protection too. I had the Ducati one on my S2R originally but sold it after a year and swapped to one of these after getting sick of cleaning road crud off the shock and fishing gravel out of the ‘handy’ collection bowl ducati decided to create at the bottom of the shock mounting/swing arm interface. So much better coverage and cheaper whilst still looking good. What’s not to like? (Well apart from the fact it’s still far from cheap…) |

Yellowfever's right about the minimal protection offered by the Ducati Performance style hugger. If you do find one, you can protect the shock with this extender, which will fit with the DP top hugger. This is from an earlier thread so the price has probably gone up since then...

I’d be wary about ordering stuff from abroad until you find out how much brexit tax they’ll add to the price.
……and while I’m on the subject of prices, QB carbon, (who I’ve used in the past) having a ‘contact us for prices’ is a big no no from me and I wouldn’t bother- it means they don’t have any. Just put your prices on display!

On the point about QB prices, I had noticed that the prices aren't mentioned but from my experience its always worth asking. I did some face to face dealings with John (Merrill) many years ago and he is a bit of a wheeler dealer and I was able to haggle with him on prices.

QB stuff is good quality stuff tho, no problems there and he is a down to earth biker, well that was my impression then, back in the day.

Another vote for QB carbon from me. Mines had their 2 piece version ( to protect the shocker ) on from new.

I've got a couple of QB carbon parts on my 916 - hugger and air intake tubes and I'm well happy with them, bought them 20+ years ago and they've held up very well.
I even broke one of the air intake tubes in a crash and took it to QB to see if it was repairable or to buy a new one and they repaired it (invisibly) free of charge - well above and beyond the call of duty. This was some years ago now and I understand that the original owner has retired and sold the business so I can't comment on the current situation.

That's for all the replies to my thread.
QB seems to be the place to go. Will give them a shout.

Ah, good point… it was on ebay.co.uk and I hadn’t spotted it would be coming from Germany…. indeed extra costs to factor in. Still a quality product mines still great after over 10 years, so might be worth considering depending what the QB options are costing… |
