Ah, an opportunity to get some education.
Is there a visual difference Slob?

Just realised I'm outrageously making the alu tank claim without having done a simple magnet test.

I would expect the seam round the base to look more ‘handmade’ and probably flush and TIGed rather than flanged and MIGed (sometimes it’s hard to tell the difference visually when the welder was a robot). RR tanks have flatter panels in the knee cutouts. It’s certainly a custom paintjob (or a special I haven’t come across before).
I’ve never seen or heard of a stock aluminium tank, but then I’ve never seen a plastic carbie tank but have been told a few exist) |

Shame they messed up the model designation on the tank, I think it should be SiE not SE?

Pretty sure all those yellow or red framed variants had plastic fuel tanks.

I thought the 695 was the first air head to get the placcy tank around '06-'07?

I don’t know flip, but both those photos show a seam above the rear cylinder, that suggest welded steel.

This is all really interesting stuff.
Anorak training at it's best. Thanks Nasher.

Are we taking bets?
Knowing what colour the paint is that Ducati used on the inside of their steel tanks I think that unfortunately Velosam will will find it's steel. Which is a real shame actually. Nasher.
