Hi I've just got my first monster has anyone got any advice on the best way to look after it I have it in a garage but just a sheet over it as I only use it on weekends?
Any other advice on the bike would be great as I'm fairly new to riding.

Welcome. Avoid short journeys where the oil doesn't get fully up to temperature or you will end up with mayonnaise in the sight glass which is very difficult to shift. A minimum of 25 miles really (not at urban speeds either). I realise this could be difficult in London at times.

Got run it regularly to help keep the battery charged up.
Even if you don't take it out, let it run for a good long time to get some charge and get it hot, over 100 degrees, to get rid of any moisture as Big Red says.

Make sure it's looked up well. Ground anchor will really help.

Thanks for the advice, I try to take it out at least every 3 days but it's hard to get the speed up round the city. Is there anything you would do if you was not going to use it for 2 weeks? Or would you just leave it?
No one I know has got a bike so i don't end up going to far really

If you have an alarm on it a good battery tender will help you not kill the battery. My little old M600 lasts months (except in winter and it's about a month) without a battery tender, but it has a new(ish) battery.

Give it a good clean after being out on salty roads and wash the salt off, and clean the paint as you would a car (wash, polish, seal, wax).

Where in London are you? I'm always up for a little ride out, especially as the Monster is due a refresh this year.

I got a load of cleaning stuff the other day gonna take it for a ride today then give it a good clean, I'm in islington.

I make sure I start and let mine run every 2 weeks but that's because it's carbed and the float bowls dry out. 696 won't suffer that but it's still a good idea. Invest in good security even if you have a garage and especially if you leave it on the street.

I'm getting an anchor for the garage but I also got a Almax lock which seems pretty sturdy.
