It's been a bad few weeks.

My Mother passed away early Wednesday Morning after 5 weeks in hospital.

This morning when the sun came out I knew I needed a tonic, and what better to lift the spirits than taking my other old girl out for a trip to the seaside.

It's not that far for me, but the 20 minute ride down to the Hayling Island side of the Langstone Harbour entrance for a cuppa and back really hit the spot.

Sorry to hear about your mum Nasher.

I felt the urge to have a blat today. It got up to 12 degrees in the shade. It would have been a nice for it, but sadly work prevailed.

Bike still looking great mate..

Many condolences for your loss Nasher. I find a ride out always helps to put life into perspective, allows some time for reflection and can focus the mind on something positive.

Well Nasher, sad news about your mum but as we all know a quick blast does the soul good, how do you keep your bike so tidy mine always looks a heap, Bitza.

Sad to hear of your mother Nasher, loosing a parent is tough. I always turn to my bike in times of stress and it never lets me down.

Many thanks for your kind words, they really are appreciated.

The short ride out was just what i needed, and the sun even came out for me.

The M900 is no show bike Bitza, but is I suppose 'Tidy' as you put it.
The poor old thing had been shut up in the garage for weeks whilst I've put nearly 1500 miles on my old Disco travelling up and down the A34!

Also very sorry to hear about your Mum Nasher- whether people have gone through it or not it's never the same for anyone else.

I had a rough one too, last Monday was my best mate's Mum's funeral (she was like my 'other' Mum for over thirty years) and Valentines day would have been my Dad's Birthday- luckily I have an understanding wife who 'just knows'.

So yes, I too got out for a little pootle about for a couple of hours Friday afternoon.

I'm usually free from midday onwards on a Friday so if ever you fancy a cuppa drop me a text.

Oh and the fact that yours (like mine) is not a show bike is the best thing in my book- tidy yes but also used and enjoyed like they should be- bring on the nicer weather!

Yes, like Flip says, its never the same for anyone else.
That's the reason for my late response actually, as I was constantly drawn towards offering philosophy based on my own experience some years ago.
All I will say is that the passing of individuals might seem sad but the life force continues down the generations and so our forbears are never really lost.

And, to finish on a more frivolous note ... Things may come and things may go but a Ducati monster will always be a bike to sooth the soul and inspire the spirit.

Oh, and I'm with you on the show bike thing.
My bike bears scars which I will never want to remove.

You have my sympathies too Nasher, but I don’t know how to say what I feel as it brings back losing my Mum last year.

Hey Nasher I'd call that bike "Suzanne" if it were mine.
I love your photos. Your wise old Monster seems to be looking out over the water and watching the tidal whorls and reflected thoughts on the surface. The whole ambiance has a wonderful melancholic solitude to it.

When I first saw your pics, Lennard Cohen started singing "Suzanne" in my head and continued to do so over the last couple of days.
" Suzanne takes you down to that place by the river, you can hear the boats go by, you can hear the river answer.."
It really is the soundtrack to the pictures. What a beautiful, rich, melancholic, existential piece of art it is.

Just had to share the thought with you.

Guys, I really do appreciate your kind words, thank you.

I'm quite pleased with my snaps from the other day, the first image now being my new desktop on my work PC.

Unfortunately the reality of being the Executor of the will, dealing with her estate, various pensions, bank accounts, arranging the funeral, looking out for my Brother who's unwell himself etc, has kicked in and I'm full on trying to cover it all and go to work as normal having had my allowed 3 days off work.

One thing is for sure, the M900 will get more use this year than it has over the last couple of years.

I'll re-post this image of Mother in the Bullet sidecar attached to my Fathers BSA Gold Flash just to make me feel better.
