Talking Hello from Norfolk!

Hi, live in Norfolk and had my 2000 M600 Dark for about a year. Been riding most my life and jeffin' love bikes! My monster is my first (and maybe last lol) Ducati...

Having a few issues but will find the right place to post

Hello Max. Welcome to the club.

We're having a meet in Norfolk on The 9th. Come along and say hello... It doesn't have to be on the Monster if it's poorly.

Hello, looking for the Star will take your mind off `character traits`, not woes, welcome.

Might be an idea if you let the forum know which model you're interested in buying

Welcome aboard goodeye.

Keep you eyes peeled on here for Monsters coming up for sale.

Extreme Trading at South Walsham have Monsters from time to time.. They had a lovely M1000Sie not so long back, they might even still have it?
They're top dollar though and imported from Japan I believe, so speedos in kpm.

Carl Harrison in Harleston might also be worth contacting, as he has his ear to the ground regarding Dukes for sale, and will probably know the history of the bike too.

Chances are you will have to travel a fair way out of Norfolk though, to get what you want.

Let us know what you're after.

Thanks for the warm welcome, I’ve been toying with the idea of a monster for a while. i rode a 696 from the Value Bike Centre in Wymondham and it was awesome, the position, the feel and the sound all work for me but the guy wants soo much money for everything it just wasn’t on the cards. Since then i have been looking around for a 696 but nothing has caught my eye. Ideally I want a bike with less than 10k, full service history and in as good condition as possible.

While the 696 was great, i felt initially it was a little under powered but on reflection i think it will be good for what i need, plus its a lot lighter than most other stuff i have ridden and it turns so much better.

i have been riding a 2008 FZ6 for the last 4 years and while the 90ish bhp was great, its a bit of a heavy beast and was a bit dull. So while I want a 696 i wish it had a bit more poke but the 796 or 1100 are going to be out of my budget.

brain is also liking the idea of a street triple or a 1250 bandit, they are both reliable and relatively bullet proof but the heart says the monster (and so does the wife) so I’m not arguing!

I suppose the only negative of owning the duke will be the massive services they require. Belts, valve check, oil, plugs and all the other stuff every 2 years or 7.5k miles seems mad coming from a Jap bike which only needed fresh oil and plugs each year or couple of years depending on mileage.

Ive also got a bike im selling to add a few quid to the Monster fund. It was a winter project to keep me busy. A friend had a CBR 600 FX, it was solid and well maintained mechanically but it needed a little love. Stripped it down and did a few bits to enable someone else to enjoy it. If anyone is interested or has a friend who might be just ping me a PM.

Anyway, hopefully I will find my monster soon and join you guys for a ride!

Are you looking at a 696 & where is the bike for sale?

Well I am the proud owner of a 59 plate 696! Bought from a fellow member of the forum. Collected from Southampton and ridden back to Norfolk, it was a bit of an epic ride and I'm a bit sore but am the owner of a red ducati!
