Not just in London but nationwide, it never fails to amaze me how many people stamp on the right hand pedal when they see an Amber light (which means STOP) when they should be stamping on the middle one - makes my blood boil!!!
Rant over (sorry)

The Highway Code doesn’t say stamp on the brakes, it says ‘AMBER means ‘Stop’ at the stop line. You may go on only if the AMBER appears after you have crossed the stop line or are so close to it that to pull up might cause an accident’.
