I knew the Blacksmith drill wasnt right and had a good idea it wasnt going to produce a hole matching its specified size, hence I ordered a 21.5mm drill for the 22mm OD bush, expecting to have to go to work with a burr or a small flap wheel. I also wanted the bush to be a really tight fit to maybe help reduce its specified 18mm ID. This just happened to be an instance of all the wrongs adding up to a right. The drill had wandered enough for me to press the bush straight in with a good pressure and the bush fitted as a perfect tight fit on the pivot.

Righting another wrong!
But WHY? I get people tail chopping, (although I wouldnt,) and going for a radical look, even to the extent of removing the rear frame tubes. But just to remove the bottom plastic holding the reflector seems like a completely pointless exercise, given you still have to put a reflector back somewhere. I also took the opportunity to remove some more "work of the devil" connectors. The reflector is still available from Ducati and on its way from Snells.

I discretely added a small digital rev counter today. Problem is it needs programming to suit the sparking cycle on the bike. My assumption is that if the sensor wire is attached to the HT lead on one cylinder that the designated cycle would be 1 spark to two revolutions being a 4 stroke. "1P2R"
Anyone know what the idling speed of a 95 M900 is when it is on the point of stall, ie the lowest idle the motor will do, because Im getting the rev counter showing about 1500rpm, when I would have thought it might really be 800 or 900, but I dont have experience of big 90 degree twins.

As for idling, I would think around 1,000 - 1,100rpm is about as low as would be comfortable.

So what does 1P1R give you? Presumably half the revs you were reading before.

No it was still not right with that, for some reason. I get what appears to be right at idle of about 1000 when set with 2P1R which is supposed to be two sparks per revolution, which shouldnt be correct, unless somehow its reading the other cylinders spark aswell.

Maybe they mean 2 sparks per cycle rather than revolution, either that or something was lost in translation?
On my Translogic dash there is just a sequential setting for RPM, you just use the setting that works. It is quite obvious if you select the wrong one - 17,000rpm from an M900!

A previous owner definitely made some aesthetically questionable choices on that bike. You should have seen the tea tray and the random crappy stickers I took off it! |

Nice idea.
I've never been fully at ease without a revcounter on these early gen Monsters. Are they a reasonable price? |

I quite liked the dots. They were quite individual!

Could you post a link where these can be bought please? I hope they are fairly easy to fit though. |

Not too much need I found when moving from a single clock carb to twin clock IE, They just run out of steam at 8.5K and just don't want to rev much further than 9.
