Coffins. !

I am looking for a pair of Brembo Master cylinders and levers from a single disc Ducati.
Donor models would include M600, M750, 600SS and 750SS.

The type I need are often called "Coffin" types and I am looking for the smaller version of the Brake master for a single disc. This can be identified by the clutch and brake reservoirs being the same size. The dual disc version has a larger reservoir than the clutch.

Any condition considered as they will be stripped, serviced and polished.

Not always.

My ‘94 M900 and both ‘93s have or had small coffin m/cs fitted with the double disks. I don’t know if the piston is bigger than the single disk version?

Thanks Darkness, that's interesting, though I suspect that the very early ones did also have the smaller piston feeding dual discs.. Something to look out for.

As it happens I am now sorted for masters, thanks to my good mate Jonzi.
He mailed me as I was typing my ad and offered the masters from his single disc 600SS, which will be absolutely perfect.. They are destined for my Commando.

Glad you are sorted.

I’ve just checked out the Stein Dinse parts listings and for the ‘93 M900 the replacement clutch and M/C lids are the same small size [Same part No.], but when you buy a whole new M/C it is a PS 16 but now has the larger coffin reservoir.

Pretty sure both the clutch and brake reservoirs are the same size on my ‘97 900 too.
But then ‘97 bikes were a bit of a parts bin with a fair bit of variation between bikes.

I'm sure my '98 M900 had the larger coffin on the right, as I remember being told, when I converted my 750SS to twin discs, that I would need the larger master and so noted that the Monster had the correct one.
Thinking about it, I'm sure Ducati knew their hydraulic maths long before I discovered it (yesterday) and would have been using the correct larger size piston on the dual disc bikes from the start. It seems that the larger reservoir came later.. Another little snippet for the concours judges..

Britalian eh Jez? Well there could well end up being a lot more Indian parts on it than Italian!
It's moving on very slowly, but one thing's for sure, whenever I ask for help on here it comes in spades.
The local Norton Owners Club are very helpful too.
Not sure whether I should start a thread here as progress is so slow?

Hey thanks for that picture Nasher. It gives me a good idea how the NVT switchgear will fit in with the coffins.
I'm sure I've seen clamps on the masters that have an upright threaded boss for mirrors. Am I imagining this? otherwise where do the mirrors go? On their own handlebar clamps?

A thread you say.. I will have to see what I can do, but not tonight as it's Norton Owners Club night and I can startle them with a Monster..

When you say ‘upright threaded boss’ do you mean vertical, or perpendicular to the bars? The standard clamps have them square to the bars, though they can be made more discreet by fitting them upside down [Just the clamps!] when not mounting mirrors there.
