My S4R blue white

So finally after weeks of tinkering here are some progress pics.

This is a 2003 (must be a very late 2003) S4R blue white, I always wanted an S4R after owning an S2R and a much modified S4 (which I probably should’ve kept - see pic)

Bike was received in quite poor cosmetic condition and various add ons like slip on cans, rad covers and belly pan. Stuff I don’t like. So I began my usual changes:

Tail chop
Integrated tail light
Mini indicators
New top yoke (£ ouch)
Clip ons
New clutch cover (not pictured)
Blue clutch plate replaced with black with new springs and collars (not pictured)
CRG lane Splitter bar end mirror (best mirror I’ve ever used)
Rizoma look a like fluid pots - £5 from China !!!!!!! Unbelievable
Shorty levers - again from China £30 !!
Powder coated swing arm and rear sets

And then the flaky paint just had to be sorted and this is where anyone who is thinking about prepping and painting an engine in situ, yes it can be done and the results can be quite good BUT after hours of fecking about trying to sand down some very hard to reach areas my advice is just remove the engine. The results will inevitably be better and you’ll have some skin left on your hands. Plus the 3 weeks it took to prep the engine will not end in divorce.

The next stage is more powder coating

Radiator and brackets
Oil cooler
Exhaust brackets
Cylinder head covers

And a general tidy up of things like rad fans and plumbing with silicone spray, replace most of the plumbing collars and any traces of over spray.

That’s an interesting pair of pipes: I’m guessing they weren’t “silencers”!

I was trying to work out what you’d done to the rear suspension on the S4?

It’s just a powder coated spring, to be honest it didn’t come out how I wanted it but at that point after 6mths I just wanted to get it assembled

Hi matey hope all is well.

Only plan is to get the header, link and bladder all ceramic coated. It actually sounds pretty damn good running it of the bladder. Not as loud as the S4 but I could t put up with that again, too much.

Sounds good! I'll be watching with interest (maybe I can steal some ideas for my inbound S2R haha)

You must post up a pic of these Rizoma look a like resevoir pots for a fiver - the real ones are hugely expensive. Do they use the Ducati holders etc?
