Banjo Bolt problem!!

06 S2R 800....
I am trying to undo the clutch banjo bolt to fit risers, it is really done up tight!!; it does not appear to be an exact fit for my sockets!
Are the bolts metric or imperial? 11mm is too small and 12 is slightly too big....

Cheers,
Jim.

Try a hex socket rather than bi-hex, or a good ring spanner.

Some aftermarket bleed nipples, such as the 'speedbleeders' often have a US size. The one on my 916 clutch slave is 5/16 and the rear brake caliper 3/8 UNF.

Thx. I thought it might be US/imperial (dont know if they are the same?), 15/32 seemed to be the closest match.
You would think a Ducati would have metric bolts.

They mostly do but there are some exceptions, at least on older models; the 'bung' in the exhaust for gas diagnostic and quick-release fuel tank fittings being a couple that spring to mind.

The speedbleeders are made in the USA and use non-metric sizes, probably because they originally made them for Harley-Davidsons and then went on to make them for other bikes and use the same material despite cutting a metric thread.

Actually the US size bleeder on my rear caliper is better IMO, because the Brembo part is bigger (11mm IIRC) and it's a tight fit to get a ring spanner on it because it's so close to the brake line banjo but the speedbleeder is around 1.5mm smaller so a ring spanner fits easier...
