There's no stopping progress...

...but you can progress stopping!

First we had radial calipers, then monoblocs, then the Stylema and now these snazzy finned jobbies have appeared on this season's WSBK Ducatis.

I can't imagine that their improved cooling will be needed or noticed on the road but I bet that won't stop them appearing on next year's top-of-the-range Panigale.

So what does the other pipe do? The one from the top of the caliper to just under the bottom of the fork? Some sort of ABS / rotation monitoring / datalogging thing?

And the bits the calipers fix too look ever so slender...

I was wondering that. I think it's wiring rather than hydraulic pipe and seems to go to a sensor over a phonic ring. The ring only has 10 or so spokes though, so not enough for an ABS system. Perhaps just a basic wheel speed indicator for data logging purposes?

And, yes, those caliper mounting brackets look incredibly delicate, don't they? Titanium?
