Smile Intermiting start problem m600

Good Afternoon peeps,

My other half has a 2002 m600, it has 3500 miles from new.

recently it has decided to be all ducati and often refuses to start.

will run fine once started.

changed main relay, starting solenoid and starter motor.

and yet the problem is still there, when ignition comes on all electrics are fine, relay energises etc. but on pressing the start button there is nothing at all, not starter turning, and after trying for a while it just fires in to life as if there is nothing wrong. sometimes rocking it in gear seems to help, and will start with a bump.

any thing I may have over looked as I am not a ducati man myself, (blade rider) ? or any thing that can help? many thanks,

ray

Hello and welcome..

...Coincidence, we have an M600 owner in Norfolk whose Hubby has a 'Blade.

Try moving the handlebars from side to side whilst pressing the starter button.

Sometimes the wire gets an internal break where it bends with fork movement, so if it "makes" in a certain steering position then you need to do some surgery on the harness and replace the broken bit...tricky because the wire will look okay on the outside..

Could be one of the interlock switches, stand, neutral etc gone south. Assuming that the battery is ok. Do you get any clicking from the starter solenoid?
