Back in the fold - in a manner of speaking
Evening all, I thought I'd pop my head in and say hello.
Having cut my teeth on all manner of Jap creations, I found my way to some Italian exotica. My first was a 749r which, to this day I still rate as one of the all time 'riders bikes'. This was followed by a beautiful MV F4 which for all its beauty, just couldn't match the Duc for soul. Loosing interest I went back to Jap and then on to the German rocket ship. That was insane, but again lacked a certain something. so here I sit again, with my Crimson red air cooled V twin machine. It's not, I'm ashamed to say a monster, but it's still a red Ducati, that's OK right?!?!. I've picked up a sorry looking Hyper 1100 as the basis for my next build (did I forget to mention that I have a bad addiction to customisation/modification) and [shamed face] that's what brings me here. I Can't find a dedicated hyper site in the UK and the tech tips on here are just fantastic and will help me out no end. Anyhoo, must go, lots of parts to buy and fabrication to plan DD Last edited by DangerousD; 25-01-2015 at 08:05 PM.. |

So here goes...
as readers of my earlier posts will know, I'm a bit keen on doing things differently, so I thought it about time I set to the hyper. The plans are: Twin exhausts, Desmo tail section, Slipper clutch, ohlins forks, larger brakes, black paint, various other bits and bobs as the mood takes me. So far, I've done the clutch, replaced every nut and bolt with stainless, R&G goodies and give her a dam good servicing. Today I started in the exhaust: I started by making a mirror of the DP bracket out of card and then transposing to 3mm stainless Next up was to turn some ally spacers as the left hand side if the frame is a slightly different shape to the right Once I had all the parts made, it was just a case of bolting it all together to see how it sits Although I can't do final fitment, shortening cans and pipe work until the (a) tail unit turns up. That's enough for today. What do you think? More to follow as I get deeper into the work. |
