cam locking tool for 2v

I have the laser cam pulley nut removal tool ,, usually i lock the engine using gears and brakes to remove the cam pulley nuts ,, and same when torquing them back on ,, but im wondering if some form of locking tool might be better as a couple of times i have torn belts when torquing to 65nm ,, I see laser sells some kind of locking pegs with 5mm threads but for the life of me I cant see how they would work on a 750 monster

any thoughts or alternatives ??

Have a look here for details of how the pins are used especially the diagrams at post #19 and #50.

However, the pins are only for locking the cams during adjustment - they won't be strong enough to secure the pully while you tighten the locking nut. You need one on these for that:

The genuine Ducati part no. Is 870005544 and this eBay offering is similar in design.

Edit: Sorry, Rob, I missed your earlier post, which this has just duplicated!

I've just noticed, if you buy this Laser version before 4 June, you get 20% off with this code PICK20OFF

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LASER-TOO...id=24017010203

Which would bring the price down to £25.20 (free postage).

My mate Guy had one of those but it broke when torquing up the nuts

Best then to go for the four-pin one that slob flagged up or the Avanti version.

I've got a few tools from GB Motorcycle Products on eBay over the years, generally he's very helpful and the quality is good.
