Shopping in Italy
Done a bit of shopping whilst at WDW, this little 450 '72 gem has been brought back along with a Le Mans of very first vintage (within the first 600 produced..)

Need a seat as the one on is aftermarket and the side panels are from a later model.Has been resprayed at some point but engine and frame match the first 3 months of production. If you know your lemans you know how rare the pre-DeTomaso Le Mans are![IMG][/IMG]
PS I have another one with the square tail light and a MKII I'm waiting to bring over..

Very much out of my league when they were new and still far more than i can afford now. At least I have the memory of a good few miles on a mates Lemon...

I do appreciate the Guzzi and I remember lustful feelings at the launch of the LeMans.
However for me, the weight, the torque reaction and the power-sapping shaft drive are design flaws which make it less desirable then a bevel Ducati of the same period. The scrambler very nearly got to me though. I would seriously fancy a Ducati single to sit alongside the monster and do the donkey work. But it would need to have the desmo engine and, though it may be sacrilege, it would need to be in a modern chassis. In reality, I'm probably better off with the Dommie, but there is still this little voice in the back of my head ........ All I bought in Italy was petrol ... and ice-cream. |

Nice finds. Are these to be chopped up and turned into DMOL creations or restored and sold as classics?

Not even I could bring myself to chop either of them, they're pieces of motorcycle history and as such should be treated. The 450 is in perfect condition so no restoration needed. The LeMans will be put through a mild restoration to put right the inaccuracies but not a full resto: I do like the nice patina.. Next DMOL won't be a simple chop
