6000 Mile Service MAINT Light

I had my 620 serviced recently at around 5800 miles - it's now up to about 7500 and the Maint indicator has started flashing on start up - does anyone know how the indicator works or what triggers it? What should the mechanic have doneto do to set the system so the Maint message is producted at the next service interval?

Or is this just a case of the buggers not bothering to do the work properly?

Cheers

Maint - display

Hi,
I've had the same thing at every service. I have the M1000ie and assuming it's the same you need to take the bike to the dealer and ask them to reset it. They have to plug in the diagnostic tester and only takes minutes. I've been told earlier bikes could be reset by a combination of switch depressions but for mine it needs reset by the tech.
The mileage at which the Maint comes ON seems to vary but they cannot force a reset until it's displayed hence the reason the service was carried out and now some miles later the Maint comes ON. I've never been charged for this reset at Ducati Glasgow and assume the other dealers are the same.

To reset the 'Maint' indicator.
Hold down the left-hand button, switch on ignition,
let go of the button and then turn the ignition off
It's now reset for another 6K miles.

If the buttons on the dash won't do it, take it to Rosso Corse in Bow.
They'll almost certainly reset it for free, if they won't, tell 'em I sent you... they'll charge you double LOL.

its not a case of them not doing it it is physically impossible to reset the light until it comes on. although they should have told you that, they shouldnt charge for resetting it if theyve serviced it

Just reset it as shown above, I had my dealer saying I would have to take my bike back after the 500 mile service as it doesn't come on till 600 miles.

They even said it now has to be connected to the diags to be reset, well thankfully I was still able to clear it myself.

Duncan , sorry to say but these days it tends to be LED's..... So the old tricks don't work any more.....

hi all - thanks for the advice - I tried the left button/ignition trick as recommended by slob - worked perfectly....

No checkbook or dealers required!!

thanks again - appreciate it

Now having done the easy one, can anyone recommend any way to fix the weather.... just fished the bike out of the basement at work where it was under a foot of water in minutes... :-)
